Welcome to the Tolkien Directory, a masterlist resource for Tolkien roleplay blogs. To join the directory, reblog this post with the following information in the tags:

just a quick thing, for the book/film that your character is based in, please list out the book(s) or film(s) that your character is in, not ‘book based/film based’ since the hope for that tag is more of a timeline tag than to separate portrayals that are book based or film based. (for whether a particular portrayal is book based or film based, please take a look at their individual blog.) please feel free to take a look at the list (linked here) and the category tags on the side of the list if you’re unsure how to tag your post. thank you!

@abrazimir replied: Wouldn't it be fine if it was just a list of characters that aren't being played? If you miss some folk they can just let you know that they play them, that was my thought anyway. Like I'm pretty sure no one plays Forlong of Lossarnach or Adrahil or Fatty Bolger etc

I certainly have no problem trying it, and seeing if it’s helpful. does anyone else have any thoughts on this one way or another?

I like the idea of this, but haven’t ever really seen it executed well on a masterlist; many times I’ve seen it result in hurt feelings from small blogs that write a character that’s put on the list, so I’m not sure how to do this in a way that wouldn’t do that. (at the same time, though, I of course do know that not everyone clicks with everyone else’s writing, and it’s entirely possible for there to be only one or two portrayals of a particular muse, that someone else would love to write with that muse but doesn’t click with the existing portrayals.) I’m definitely open to suggestions from people who have seen this done well, but I just don’t want to turn what I hope is a community-building, friendship-finding place, into a place where people feel like their portrayal of a muse isn’t wanted because that character is on a list of underrepresented muses.

hello friends! I hope that you’re finding the masterlist directory helpful. 

I want to see what else you think would be useful for the Tolkien RPC to see on this blog. do you have any suggestions? anything you’d like to see? anything that would be helpful for finding more Tolkien RPers? 

also, how do you all like the code for the list? please know that I’m not very good at coding, but I want to know if you all like the code used for the list, if it’s easy to navigate the sidebar filters, etc. are the filters I’m using sufficient, or is there something else you think there should be filters for?
