There is absolutely nothing you can say or do that would convince me that Bucky Barnes is a villain.
Look into that mans eyes. Look at the pain and sadness in those blue orbs. Those are not the eyes of a villain, but the eyes of a victim.
Bucky Barnes was tortured practically nonstop by Hydra. He was electrocuted and used. He was pulled out of his own mind and turned into a goddamn puppet. Hydra took away his free will and programmed him into a machine. A machine that needs code words to activate.
This man has killed many people but he did not do it out of his own free will. He was forced to do it. And he remembered every single person he killed. He holds that pain and regret because he thinks it was his fault that they died. Those people may have died at his hands, but they did not die at his mind.
Bucky Barnes never wanted any of this. When Steve found him during the war, strapped down to that table, Bucky was repeating his information so he wouldn’t lose himself to them. And when he saw Steve, he didn’t smile. He didn’t smile because his best friend was now in the war, fighting against people Bucky couldn’t protect him against. Bucky was always more worried about Steve than himself, even as the soldier.
During Civil War, when hes trapped in the cage, he breaks down. He fights against the code words because he doesn’t want to be the soldier anymore. He doesn’t want to kill anymore. But, no matter how hard he fights, it doesn’t work. Because he still doesn’t have his own mind back.
So tell me again how Bucky is a villain, because I swear to god I will fight you on this until my very last breath.
