Final garment reveal. Through taking videos around the Wentworth Castle, i was able to express how the garment has been shaped and inspired.
Trailer
I decided to create a trailer to promote to my audience. Using images of surroundings at the Castle as well as a ‘sneak peak’ of the garment!
Photoshoot
Here are the final images of ‘The Earl’ taken at the site of inspiration Wentworth Castle Gardens.
Postcards
Creating a range of postcards with the style taken for my initial illustrations and the media from the design boards I was able to emulate “mini design boards” so that the viewer would get a small snippet of what it is like to be a designer. I decided to add small cutouts of denim and images from the photoshoot to include the final garment.
I also created a description emulating what the design is and what has inspired the creation.
Design Boards.
Using water colour and acrylic paint for the background, I was able to express my designs in an abstract way. Having the fine liner sit on top of the paint to complement the shapes and silhouette of the design. Taking it further and adding an enlarged snippet of the design in either pink or blue biro to contract for the darkness of the biro.
Photoshoot inspiration
Above shows some images and colour pallets that inspired the photoshoot of my garment. I decided to model the garment myself at the home where it all began (Wentworth Castle). Tying my hair up so that the collar is shown and white knee high boots to complement the white puff sleeves.
Final Outcomes
Final Illustration Style
For my final illustration style I decided to illustrate using fine liners and biros. After testing multiple options of illustration styles, I decided this would best suit my designs as I wanted to create abstract design. This way I could layer paint behind so that the pen would sit on top.
Digital Illustration
Using procreate i was able to illustrate my final garment digitally so that it could be used for promotional purposes.
Samples of construction
Above shows some samples of the stitching a textile techniques that I used in my final garment.
Samples before construction
Above shows some of the samples that I experimented with before constructing and finalising my garment.
Method of construction
Above shows the method that i used to create the final garment seen on the last slide.
Spec Drawing and Pattern Pieces
Above shows the sketch that I was able to use in order to construct my garment created. I have also included the pattern pieces (sleeves and top) which I sketched out to create from.
Upcycle - VERB: recycle and reuse (discarded objects or material) in such a way as to create a product of higher quality or value than the original.
