Sinners movie and Anuradha nakshatra
Oh boy oh boy, am I thrilled to finally expose this beautiful bunch of information and observations from this SPECTACULAR movie.
Side note : I am a proud (and somewhat traumatized) owner of both my Venus and Pluto nakshatra being in Anuradha (Sidereal Scorpio sign, from 3.20 to 26.40 degrees). So there was no doubt that when this gem hit the theaters, it would soon become my favorite movie and muse for this piece of research gatherings. Let me tell you why :
First, let's start off by the main producer of this film, Ryan Coogler's birth chart. His moon nakshatra? Anuradha. I noticed that the producers (and/or actors) of all my favorite movies or series either where Anuradha or Ketu nakshatra ruled.
Moving on, the story begins with our young preacher boy Sammie fulfilling his duties as the son of the town's priest. The actor that plays Sammie (Miles Caton), is another Anuradha moon. And his character portrays the most common themes I've seen with this nakshatra and its planetary ruler Saturn in film so well.
To start, he grows up in a very religious and strict household. From a young age his father pushes a lot of responsibilities and limitations on him. Expecting Sammie to perfectly preach the word of God and have little to no free time to pursue his other hobby : playing his guitar. As this is seen as sinful. Growing up in Mississippi Delta which is rather Southern, in a time of poverty and extreme versions of racism with the KKK (Klansmen), we see him working on the cotton fields with other townspeople and thus have a very repetitive, sober way of living with little to no place for fun.
His life is turned upside down when he joins the Smoke twins (his cousins) on a journey to remember. Where he not only pierces the veil between the past and the future spirits with his music, but is morally tested by the temptations of the devil wanting to use Sammie for his gifts. Passing this test, and so returning to his hometown to confront his father with his story (clearing up his karmic debts) and eventually choosing music and leaving his community for good.
This is one clear way of presenting Anuradha and it's ruler Saturn. I always see these previously mentioned themes coming back in films with Anuradha and Saturn influence. Characters who either grow up in very religious towns where almost everyone is kind of rooted there and never settles anywhere else in the world, in historical time periods where we see a lot of poverty and/or slave labour being shown. Or the other side of the coin and often joined together, a lot of abusive households or relationships. Most of times if not always, the main character finds a way to escape or fight his/her way out of the grip that holds them in this particular town, relying on their immaculate strength and ability to blossom even in the murkiest of waters (because yes, the towns in these movies are almost always in swampy or muddy areas).
And yes, the respective symbol that belongs with Anuradha is the Lotus flower. Which has the ability to blossom in the murkiest of waters.
What we still see tho, is that they somehow always return to it, to finish off a karmic debt or confrontation (mostly with a father figure or something regarding the traumas they grew up with) and then leave forever. No wonder this nakshatra is called 'the star of success'. I immediately thought of Tom Holland ( Anuradha moon)'s character in 'Devil all the time' and Robin Wright (Anuradha moon) playing Jenny in "Forrest Gump." All similar stories.
Now it's time to present another way this nakshatra and it's rulership came forward with our most beloved villain actor and his character and yet another Anuradha moon : Jack O'Connel as Remmick.
What I wanted to show with Sammie, was the way how Anuradha and it's ruler Saturn both present themselves in daily human life, in film and especially Sinners. When we look up keywords for planet Saturn we come across duty, karma, hardships, physical labour, servants, slavery, poverty, churches, old abandoned buildings, rituals, smelly places, agriculture, time, limitations, death, the past, the father and so on to name a few... All beautifully shown in Sinners and the other mentioned movies.
In Sinners, we see him play the astonishing role of a demonic vampire creature who is actually represented as the devil throughout the film. What's interesting tho, is his obsession with his fellow Anuradha moon character Sammie. Remmick wants to use Sammie's musical gifts for his own benefit. He shows up at the juke joint door with already 2 victims of his vampiric tendencies, presenting themselves as a jolly, and very synchronized, almost hive like music band of 3. The way they move as one already rang some bells for me with like minded villains in films with Anuradha nakshatra like Jaimy Campbell Bower as 'Vecna' from Stranger things. Both Remmick and Vecna's wish is to create the biggest group of "friends" whom they can use and control through their hiveminded powers and thus grow in strength.
I looked up more about Anuradha nakshatra itself to find a link with these previously mentioned scenarios, and I came upon the ruling deity Mitra. Hindus call him the deity of friendship. Personal experiences with Anuradha's in real life, is that they always put their friends first. They really crave that connection and community. Mitra serves as a great representation to this, as he's said to have the power to unite hearts. And with Remmick, it's shown as the clear dark side of this nakshatra and it's rulership. Let me tell you more about this :
Remmick is portrayed as the devil. The ruling planet of Anuradha is Saturn, the tester of adversity, father time, the angel of the harvest. If we look at the tarot cards, the Devil tarot card is represented by the zodiac sign Capricorn, which is ruled by Saturn. Remmick comes to Sammie as a moral test, seeing if he'll comply with his wish. It's a beautiful representation of both the good and evil version of Anuradha coming together to face both their karmas and eventually restore the cosmic order. Sammie rejects Remmick's offer and thus passes the test of his morality. The one and true test Saturn will present us all one day.
The scene towards the end where they wait until sunrise to get Remmick to stay outside long enough for the sun to start shining it's light was a miraculous way of representing two big things :
The relationship between Saturn and the Sun, with Sun being the literal burner of karmic debts (Saturn) for the soul to grant the purification on this planet earth. Sun is the literal king and father of Saturn. The sun will always have the last word.
Also a little side note : As shown on the picture, is Michael B Jordan who is a Sun dominant (Uttara Ashadha asc) his character Smoke helping Sammie (Saturn) in this previously described moment during his fight with the devil Remmick.
2. Circling back to Anuradha's ruling deity 'Mitra', I came across a beautiful piece of information from Rudraksha Hub that perfectly fits the above scenario too. Nikita said that "Mitra's everyday blessing to us is the sunrise. It's the renewal of faith between the divine and the mortal. Reminding us that the greatest forces are often the gentlest and those who inspire loyalty, honesty and unity without command or fear".
When we translate this back to both Anuradha characters Sammie and Remmick, we can see this beautiful contrast of Mitra's powers. Being either used for bad or good. We see preacher boy Sammie channeling his inner Mitra through his immaculate blues guitar singing, summoning and uniting spirits from both the past and the future alongside his friends from the present during a night filled with laughter and freedom.
On the other hand, we see Remmick channeling the powers of Anuradha's ruling deity in a darker way. As the literal devil disguised as a hungry vampire, deceiving the ones around him to follow his ways under the false motive of friendship and equality. Eventually killing them and trapping their souls through vampirism, using the hivemind powers to control them while feeding off their energies. We all know the "Rocky road to Dublin" scene is phenomenal, it looks like Remmick made this happy community of vampire friends who dance together into the night, and this is really a gorgeously portrayed, evil 'dark-side' representation of Mitra's powers.
I know this was a long one, I can go on and on about this wonderful movie and it's subtle cues and references to Vedic astrology and (Hindu) mythology, but I tried to really capture the beautiful Anuradha essence in both the writing and the actors. I am again so grateful for the opportunity to share these observations which are fueled by my ongoing passion and love for bringing Vedic astrology a bit closer into daily life, so we can all understand each other and the world around us a little more.
If only these actors and producers would know what amazing and precious energies they're representing while subconsciously bringing forward their primary astrological placements and nakshatras in film.
To all my fellow Anuradha people, did you watch Sinners? If yes, what did you think of it? Also, can you find yourself in these mentioned themes? I'd always love to know and get the conversation going!
Thanks for reading and discovering with me,
Until next time!
