I get the benefits of nationalization over privatization, but privatization also ensures competition and lower prices (not always, but still - ex., liquor stores) that government monopolies cannot. Governments just run their own studies and make well intentioned decisions on the part of the business (I know they don’t “run” it day to day, not what I’m saying) that flunk because they aren’t on the ground understanding how it works. They can make studies to justify everything
Privatization does not ensure lower prices. THAT IS A FLAT OUT LIE:
Trump and Trudeau are gunning to massively privatize infrastructure – and it’s going to cost you
Privatizing public infrastructure is enormously costly. Let’s not repeat the mistake.

An international student from Punjab, India was arrested and could be deported for overworking. Advocates say it's time for Canada to consider changing the rules.
Jobandeep Sandhu, an international student from Punjab, India who worked as a truck driver while going to school, was arrested and could soon be deported for “working too hard,” his lawyers claim.
“I was totally broken,” Sandhu said, describing the moment of his arrest.
On Dec. 13, 2017, while driving a commercial vehicle between Montreal and Toronto, Sandhu, 22, was pulled over by an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer at the side of Highway 401 for a “routine traffic stop,” a report said.
A few moments later — and with little explanation, he claimed — Sandhu was arrested, handcuffed and placed in the back seat of an OPP squad car.
A police background check showed Sandhu had no criminal history at the time of his arrest.
What he had done, however — and what a review of his driver’s logbook revealed that day — was exceed the maximum number of hours an international student in Canada is allowed to work each week.
But working full time was the only way he could afford to stay in school, Sandhu said.
“I never lied,” he said. “I didn’t kill anybody. I didn’t rob.”
“My only crime is that I was working,” he said.

Lol so you’re going to charge us thousands of dollars per year to go to school, and then try to deport us when we work over our hours to pay for ourselves. International students really have the shitty end of the stick here.
This is outrageous! How can you arrest someone for working overtime?!? He was just making a living considering he has to pay exeburent amount of fees!

Everyone bitching and complaining about how bad Trudeau has done for Canada and all that. One thing they fail to realize is that if it wasn't Trudeau, it would likely have been Stephen Harper for another 4 years and do you think people honestly wanted that?
Pro-tip anon, Canada has more than 2 major political parties.
Those who are criticizing Trudeau from the left like me want someone from a more left party in power.
We don’t want the Liberals or the Conservatives.
This 2 party system, Americanization of Canadian Politics is making me ill.
No politician is free of criticism just because they’re “not as bad” as their alternatives. Trudeau has made promises that he’s failed to deliver on or has outright contradicted with newer statements so it’s reasonable for people to voice their concerns. Public discussion and criticism is a crucial method of keeping people informed so that they can hold the government accountable.

Doug Ford continues his disdain for Indigenous Peoples in Ontario.

@BobRae48 @JAWalker @FacingCanada @CBCIndigenous @CBCNews - this needs to be shared widely and publicly. Cancelling the #TRC on a Friday afternoon was done purposefully so that it would be ignored and avoid public scrutiny. Please help to challenge this.
–
Julie Boulton:
Ontario Teacher Friends -get loud! Get the word out. Use #TeachersforTRC - let @fordnation @MacLeodLisa know this is unacceptable and teachers will fight to support the important work that #Indigenous educators, Elders and knowledge keepers are sharing with us. Get loud!

They are literally going to LOSE MONEY on cancelling people’s travel and accommodations and argue that they are the “tightening the public purse” party.
When you’re so racist, you’d rather lose money than listen to experts for a few days.
Fucking unbelievable.

Aylan Couchie:
Two separate friends from my rez have also posted on FB that each of their upcoming TRC/reconciliation contracts have been cancelled as well. I assume this is only the beginning of @fordnation’s attack on Indigenous people. #Reconciliation #TRC #IdleNoMore

Why does being in your early 20s feel so much like only having 5 years of your life left in which you need to achieve as much as possible? why do I feel like I have an approaching deadline for success?
This is the kind of treatment asylum seekers are currently facing in the United States; they are given the choice to either give up their asylum claim, which would keep their family together but be forced to return to a country wracked with violence, or be imprisoned for a year and have their child put up for adoption.
If the Liberal Party sees this and still concludes that the US constitutes a “Safe” country for asylum seekers then they are morally bankrupt on this issue.

Liberals? The republicans are the ones enforcing and utilizing these policies under trump. Don’t get it twisted.
Hi, the blog this post is from is called ALL THE CANADIAN POLITICS.
When Canadians refer to Liberals we are generally not talking about ‘Liberal minded Canadians’, and we are definitely not talking about a US Political Party or its supporters.
We are talking about the Liberal Party of Canada and its supporters, who currently run the Canadian Federal Government, and guess what?
These Liberals are not taking any concrete action to deal with Trump’s outrageous immigration policies, in fact these Liberals lead by ‘WOKE BAE’ Justin Trudeau wants to make it harder for refugees to enter Canada:
Canada wants U.S. cooperation in turning back asylum seekers
It took days of pressure from Canada’s most left political party the NDP, before Trudeau would even consider condemning this family separation policy:
NDP calls on Trudeau to speak out against controversial U.S. border law
Trudeau Suggests It’s Not His Place To Condemn Trump’s Migrant Child Policy
Only days later did he even suggest it was his place to criticize Trump:
Trudeau calls Trump’s child separation policy ‘wrong’ as president does about-face
And Trudeau has done nothing to make it easier for refugees in the USA in danger of deportation or family separation to apply to Canada.
In fact he wants to maintain the Safe Third Country agreement, an agreement that assumes that the USA is a safe country for immigrants, and which makes it more difficult for refugees to claim asylum in Canada.
