The Hard(boiled) Reboot of an old old OC I had way back when in the One Piece RP Fandom.

Occupation: Traveling Biographer and Anthropologist
Dream: To write about everyone in the world and encourage people to keep records of their lives for the future generation.
Personality: A bit of a chatter box, willing to carry on a conversation with anyone at any time, about anything, just as long as she can learn more about them. She's cagey about her own life but as a side line observer to other people's lives, she thinks her addition will take away from getting a proper account of living history.
About:
Seda grew up in the South Blue, listening to the stories of both pirates, marines and sailors alike about the amazing things they saw on their trips. She’d hide under tables and marvel at the stories about the “giant frigg’en knights in the sky, hand to god” and the “bird so big, you should have seen it, bigger than the boat”.
She would retell the stories over and over in her head until she got home so she could write them down and hold them in history forever.
But her favorite stories were the ones her father told her about her mother, since she never got to meet her after dying in childbirth. She found hearing these stories helped connect her with half of who she was and she soon understood that some people didn't have that same privilege.
After her father passed from pickling his own liver and working himself to the bone caring for her as a single father, she went out to sea at the age of eighteen to start on her dream of making sure everyone has a piece of their life saved in story form for their families and anyone else to have to learn about them.
This attempt nearly ended in disaster, as she took her father's old fishing ship out to sea and it took on water from lack of maintenance. Half drowned she was plucked out of the water by some navy ship and able to sail safely to her next destination. On the ship though she realized how much she enjoyed traveling with a "novel" crew, getting to interview as many of the young sailors as their commanding officers allowed.
This began her long, and dangerous practice of ship hopping. Either by working or paying, she traveled from island to island by way of whatever ship was at the harbor each day, until she found a ship traveling to the grandline that was willing to take a scrawny girl along with them.
This gave her a good eye for spotting dangerous people and crews, though she still has some battle scars from not fully discerning the true intentions behind some of the people she traveled with. But none of this detoured her.
This did push her to seek out a form of self protection by way of the Pasa Pasa no Mi, the Paper fruit. This bit of protection allowed her to travel to more dangerous places and find treasure enough to set up a comfortable life for herself on Sabaody. She rents a decent sized cabin amongst the groves and works as a librarian in one of the libraries. She found it was a good place to meet a lot of traders and merchants as well as interesting pirates and the like to talk to.
But after seeing the slave auctions and other unsavory actions of the world nobles, as well as getting bits and pieces of event happening around the world as a direct result of world noble's taxes and barbaric practices, she's found herself itching to travel again to see first hand what's going on in the world. As well as create a hidden archive of stories of the "little people" that the world government and it's nobles see as beneath them.
Had my last doctor’s appointment for a few months. Got new meds and hopefully I won’t feel like I’m literally dying. It’ll be a bit before I’m back to normal with the meds in my system but!~ My creative powers should be back.
If there are any old threads folks want dropped, lemme know, otherwise it’s smooth sailing ahead!
"Wait seriously!? That makes things even worse- well what about 12 feet tall men with punchable faces?" Now Des was annoyed that he was back to square one, that was his number one idea. "Well he's wearing yellow, that's pretty eye catching- it's so catching where I'm from they use it in video games to make the players get from point A to B." He explained. Desmond was gonna open his mouth but now that he thought about it, he never saw M.T walk, dude's always flying.
And now he was seeing people like his home taller as well, just like how Ogre fist and Lady liberty tower over normal people being 8feet tall, he always figured it was due to power levels- but then again his grandpa, and uncles are massive as well. He followed behind keeping an eye on her as he apologized for people he'd pass, he has a tail too so it was alot to pass as is, and someone even grabbed it. He'd glare before keeping up.
Now Seda was yelling into a bar, but as she was yelling, he heard a nearby crash and loud sounds. Crossing his arms he concentrated. "That's...."
'Desmond.' Kal-li responded, knowing the feeling as well.
"No doubt about it, I kinda smell that stench of blood- but also...gunpowder?" Desmond would turn back to Seda. "I don't know where exactly but he's somewhere nearby. We're on the right ah h-hey!" He was monologuing there, he almost slipped as she grabbed his arm to pull him through the crowd once more. "I also think he's fighting someone, I smell gunpowder."
Seda spun her head around at the sound, unsure of the surety that Desmond and Kal-li had that it was there guy. It could have been any number of rapscallions and pirates causing problems amongst the masses. But there weren't any other leads and what's the chances today of all days, localized entirely on Sabaody were there two disturbances in the same afternoon. Actually that was very likely but still!
"Right, then let's get moving." She switched direction toward the noise, holding on to Desmond tighter so they didn't get lost in panicked crowd of park goers moving in the opposite direction.
"Hey you've got fun powers, got a way to get through all these folks a bit faster?" She asked back. Her paper power was only useful if they were already up in the air to catch the wind like a paper plane or parachute, getting off the ground required lift she didn't have.
a good appetite is always sign for the healing, a hint that she should be back to strength in no time. of course, there wasn't a worry before that either, the surgeon knowing his treatment had been a success. she also seems to have a returning habit of asking quite a lot of questions. trafalgar's left foot moves in a circle as he crossed long legs, considering how much he is willing to share with her.
"if you ask if we come across the inhabitants of the sea, we do so from time to time, that is quite natural, especially for those who require to breathe," it is not a daily view but something they encounter all so often. "hard to tell, as you say it is quite an unusual ship and likely not the best way of traveling in the eyes of others." he never reveals too many details, that just is not something the heart captain does.
"i have become a pirate by my own desire, if this is something you wonder about," the man begins, deciding to answer but keeping details to himself. "my parents both were doctors, i assume i'm just filling in the cliche of following into the footsteps. i do not see it as contradicting, i can do both."
This wasn't the first tight lipped person she spoke to about their lives. Normally it was situations like this were the writer was asking a load of probing questions and they, understandably didn't want to give up their life story to a total stranger. But this was a unique one where someone she didn't even knew went out on a limb to save her life, not knowing if she could be a potential danger to them or their crew. Even still! People loved talking about themselves. At least most people she ran into did.
She chewed through her meal, thinking over the strange mix of cagey but selfless she was seeing in this man before her. Was she that different though? She rarely told anyone about her own childhood history nor did she share too much info on her own coming and going.
Seda swallowed, licked the spoon and then pointed it at him. She needed to ask better questions. Fool proof!
"So what do you all do around here for fun? You know, besides pirate related activities. I can imagine you all play a mean game of cards down here." The hull of the submarine gave the perfect backdrop of a intense but friendly game of poker. Sans cigar smoking though, a team of doctors probably had a better handle on their health. A shame though, the fog of smoke would had a nice touch to the mental image she had.
"Do you have questions for me? I feel like I'm grinning you for a job interview you know." She added, flashing a bright but tired smile at the doctor.
Seda doesn't have many regrets, at least not yet, because she's a "Yes, And" kind of girly. There isn't a situation she won't get herself into at least once and as long as it doesn't go against her morals, she hasn't missed out on much.
I think thought that her biggest regret would be not being more political sooner.
She's lived on Sadaody for a number of years and has witness a lot of corruption by the world nobles and marines. But it's not like she didn't know about it before it was in her back door. It was just that she left most islands without plans to return so what happened there was a piece of history and not something she could do anything to stop.
She thinks she should reach out to the Revolutionary Army to help their cause but hasn't. And part of her feels like a hypocrite for waiting so long to want to be more helpful but she also knows that the longer she waits, the less impact she can meaningfully do.
So yuh, not exactly a single event, but a mindset she's still in.
I think in a modern AU, Seda would be one of those girlies that are always taking pictures of things she’s eating, doing, or seeing.
But she’d be horrible at taking pictures. Pure dad level pictures. Thumbs over the camera, out of focused, accidentally chin selfies because she used the wrong camera.
No she does not check before she posts. All of the texts are nonsense.
Photo that might as well be Bigfoot it’s so blurry.
Caption: Weather man said it would be hot out. But check this fella.
Her travel blog engagement would just be people in the comments trying to “Where in the World is Carmen San Diego” her from sparse clues provided.
One piece brainrot shipping hour but nothing will make me happier than seeing people shipping Usopp and Luffy. Because it was me and a friend I had at the time did that. We both ping ponged our brain rot back and forth on each other so hard that the rest of the fandom (at least on tumblr) could see the vision!
It's my only fandom legacy!
Gurl wants her eggs punched by Ace's sperm so bad!
WRONG!
As a bi trans man that wants kids, I'm constantly thinking about what Fatherhood will mean to me when the time comes. I love that boy as if he were my own son and watching a child suffer simply for being born destroys me.
Literally, all the awful people that were locked up in Impel Down, he was the only one who's crime was simply being alive and being the son of someone they hated.
That wrecks me! If they wanted to lock him up for being a pirate, sure, them's the laws after all. But they didn't. They couldn't give too shits about his piracy. And he knew it, and stupid Garp was too stubborn to see that even if he put on a marine's uniform and paraded around the bases like the perfect solider, the world would have still hated him!
Nothing Ace could have done could have saved him from being hated because of who is father is. And people are so weird about trans people even tho they are just folks existing, will that happen to my own kid? Will my kid suffer because I made the selfish choice to have them because they hate who I am?
It's heavy on my heart.
Listen you don't understand. Fatherhood is a huge recurring theme in One Piece. Absent Fathers, Neglectful Fathers, Selfless Fathers, Strict Fathers, Forgiving Fathers. Biological Fathers, Adopted Fathers, Reluctant Fathers. You've got a father Archetype, One Piece has it!
Ace has three different father's, father figures in his life. Two of which knew his Biological father and had close relationships with the man that lead to his death.
Literally! Ace's Death is "The Sins of the Father". He his molded and shaped and save by but doomed by the many fathers in his life.
I'm sick! I love that boy so much! The older I get the more it breaks my heart that a 20 year old boy could be hated so much because he was simply born because of one father, still treated with a degree of conservative prejudice out of fear of him ending up like said bio father by another, and then find so much love and acceptance with yet another who STILL couldn't save him from the target on his back!
It wasn't meant to be mean or rude, but she busted out into laughter, covering her mouth and falling backwards into the bed. This wasn't the first time someone had made that quip in her life and she always found it it hilarious. But she knew some people got offended when she didn't take their clearly in jest comment as something serious so she tried to stop her cackling.
After some sputtering, tears and snorts, she let out a long sigh and grinned.
"Sure sure, you got it captain." She did a quick two finger salute. She didn't do love, not really, so they didn't have to worry about that.
