Weddings, reunions and mangoes.
So as a preface to my story, I will start by saying that unfortunately I have just about zero photos from the trip because the day before the trip, Olie's goPro broke; the day of the wedding, I broke the polaroid camera by dropping it; and the final day, Olie's phone accidentally took a little swim in the pool which was the last source of all our photos. It's like fate didn't want us to bring back any evidence. But that's alright, I'll simply paint a picture in your mind.
It was hot. So so hot and incredibly humid. But that was the last thing on my mind when I saw Ols again at the airport. I thought it was only something that happened in movies, but literally the second I saw him it felt like the whole world became silent and melted away. I may have teared up slightly at our reunion. We then headed to the resort which let me tell you, was absolutely incredible. I've never felt so spoiled and fabulous in my whole life. For the first week we were booked in an ocean view room in the hotel which had a massive king sized bed stacked high with pillows and a balcony overlooking the entire resort all away across to the sea. And in the last weekend we switched to a private rooftop plunge pool villa, which jesus, made me feel like the queen of Sweden. It was all so luxurious and massive - and the bathroom!! A huuuuuge bathtub and giant shower next to it. And who could forget the satisfyingly cold settings on the a/c? In other words, we barely left that villa those last three days.
No, but in all honesty, we did heaps. Explored different beaches, ate dinners at random (but delicious) restaurants, went to several markets, etc etc. But mostly our days consisted of getting cheap massages by the beach, eating mangoes on the balcony at sunset, and talking for hours over fruity cocktails at dinner. It was honestly one of the best weeks I've ever had. And it meant saying goodbye was so much harder than I had anticipated. I was silly to think that the second time around saying goodbye was going to be easy because it was just so so difficult. That last morning when our alarm went off, I immediately burst into tears and I couldn't bring myself to do anything, including packing and getting ready. We ended up just laying in bed talking until minutes before we had to check out. And when it was finally time for me to walk through security at the airport, we both looked at each other and started crying. I hugged him and kissed him as quickly as possible because it hurt too much to drag it out and we then literally ran in our opposite directions with tears streaming down. Which meant I looked absolutely crazy on my flights and was just a mess all the way home. But I realize now that I shouldn't be so sad; I have so much to look forward to, considering he'll be here in less than five weeks!
Oh, and the wedding! It was positively stunning! The most beautiful thing I've ever seen, and his sister Alanna literally looked like an angel. She was absolutely gorgeous. And it was so nice to meet everyone, even though many of them (mainly the South Africans), I may never get the chance to meet again. Mark (the groom) and his brother even took it upon themselves to throw me in the pool later in the evening, with my long nice dress on and all. But then everyone was jumping in with their clothes and it ended up being so much fun. Drinking and cooling off in the pool and dancing with Olie's 90 year old grandmother. It was such a good night!
And that is that! That is my Phuket Adventure in a nutshell for you. Lots of tanning, pad thai, and hiding out in air conditioned rooms.

HAPPY NEW YEAR BABES!
I can't believe 2014 is finally upon us! And what a way to ring it in - a masterpiece of fireworks over the harbour and artists such as Flume, Chet Faker, Wiz Khalifa and London Grammar providing the theme music for day one of what's bound to be a fantastic year.
December 31, 2013 - Olie and I woke up early and put on our finest clothes (I maaaaay have bought a new white playsuit for the occasion), and then we headed off to a solid day of queueing. We thought we were being overly ambitious arriving at Mrs Maquarie's Chair at 8:30am when the gates weren't even scheduled to open until 10am, but our ambition was pathetic in comparison to the hundreds who had spent the night in the park just to get a good spot in line. Nonetheless we feebly made our way to the back of the line (the WAAAAAAAAAY back) and so started our over four hour wait to get in through the gates to Mrs Macquarie's Chair. But the wait was definitely worth it! Even by the time we got in, we still had something like ten hours until midnight, but we managed to squeeze our way into a spot at the tip of the peninsula and settled in for the wait. Luckily we had packed a massive picnic and brought games to entertain us until the clock finally struck 12, which has to have been one of the most incredible events I've ever witnessed. Fireworks lit up the night sky and golden waterfalls of light fell from the North Harbour Bridge as the Sydney Opera House was beautifully silhouetted by the light show above. I may have gotten a tad bit emotional haha. It was absolutely stunning!
And that brings us to January 1, 2014 - FIELD DAY! After a rather late sleep in, we made our way back to where we'd stood in line for so long the day before, but this time we were there for the day's line-up of artists. Having never been to a music festival, I didn't really know what to expect, but Field Day was without a doubt more than I could have ever imagined. First off, it felt like all of Sydney's under 30's had gathered in one location, and secondly, the atmosphere of the overall place was absolutely incredible. By the end of the day, Olie and I had fought our way to the front of the crowd and when Chet Faker stepped out to perform with Flume, Olie put me up on his shoulders and it was like standing right in front of the two guys. It felt like I was within arms distance of the them and even once they had "wrapped" up the night, Skrillex stepped out for a surprise performance, which was just a crazy way to ring in the end of day one of 2014.
If the way you spend New Years is any indication of how the rest of your year is going to pan out, I have a feeling it's going to be a very very good year.
And tonight we're heading to the Opera House to see Bonobo! I thought the show was sold out, but as a Christmas present, Olie somehow managed to get tickets - so I am over the moon excited right now!
I'll talk to you lovelies soon!

No holds barred.
Due to popular demand (i.e. my mom and Anna), I've decided to try and revive this blog. I appreciate those of you who take the time out of your day to read my posts, so the least I can do is try to keep you updated regularly.
For starters - I've moved! I bid Joe and Caitlin and all of Tama goodbye before returning to the unpredictable side of the Eastern Suburbs that is Darlinghurst. Although as I'm now seeing the weirdo, I've been moved from the bottom apartment to the top so that I get to wake up to Olie's beautiful face every morning. No, but it's lovely being back in Darlinghurst! And I mean, I still work over in Bondi. On top of that, my favorite smoothie shop is on Bondi Rd, so even when I'm not working, I'm there all the time!
What else can I tell you? Oh! Happy belated Christmas! Christmas Eve we had a delicious dinner at Olie's sister's place, along with his parents and aunt and granny. The following morning we ate breakfast/brunch/lunch at his parents' place in Vaucluse with the rest of his family. And after that we went home where we watched the Lion King and napped off our food comas. All in all, it was such a nice Christmas! And Boxing Day we met up with Kemmery for some post-holiday sales at the Junction, and let me tell you, it was absolutely hectic! I guess it's probably the equivalent of Black Friday in the States, but yeah, there were an unbelievable amount of people.
It's funny spending the holidays in Australia. I think it's because Christmas is in the middle of the summer and somehow it just feels so wrong. I mean, I barely even noticed Christmas was upon us! There were a few occasions where I was reminded - including baking nearly a hundred holiday cookies/cupcakes with Charly and seeing Carols in the Domain with Olie, but otherwise between working all the time and tanning at the beach, I completely lacked that Christmas spirit. But that's not to say I didn't have a fantastic holiday! Like I said, I had such a nice Christmas Eve and Christmas Day!
And now it's almost New Years! Olie is adamant that he wants to see the fireworks over the Sydney Harbour (along with the other thousands of people in the city), so we're pitching up camp in the Botanical Gardens early in the morning (think like 8am), and then we're planning on spending the WHOOOOOOLE day there! So whoever wants to join is welcome, and I'll be sure to post photos of the view because it's bound to be incredible. The day after is Field Day, an outdoor music festival in the Domain, so that should be good fun! I'm really looking forward to the next few days!
Anyways, I'll try to scramble together some photos from the last few weeks and I'll (attempt to) keep you updated on everything to come!

Workity work work.
Haaaaaaay there!
To be frank, I really haven't been up to much lately. Haha I feel like I say this every week. But for realsies, I've just been working everyday lately so I really haven't had time to do much.
Last Tuesday Olie and I grabbed dinner at a Vietnamese restaurant on Palmer St. in Darlinghurst, followed by dessert at an American-type diner next door. The next day we strolled in the sun through Surry Hills to the Sandwich Shop, where we had perhaps the most delicious lunch I've had in Sydney! Definitely definitely recommend! We then met up with Perrie for his lunch and then got to join him at the courthouse to watch the ongoing trial. Such a unique experience; I was so glad we went. But in all fairness, the judge's monotonous ramblings were a liiiiiiiittle too boring for me and Olie, so eventually we bid Perrie farewell and headed home. Since then, I've become super boring and just worked everyday. Thursday and Friday I was up at Surfection in Bondi Junction, and then yesterday and today I've been back at SDS. Let me just say, I am SO happy to be employed at the beach and not at the mall. It's just heaps chiller down by the water than up at the Westfield.
Anyways, tonight Elin, the girls and I are heading into town for drinks and then we'll probably meet up with Perrie and Olie once they're back from Stereo. And that is about that! I'm working again tomorrow, but then I'm free the rest of the week which I'm really looking forward to! I've missed how nice it was to have nothing to do.
