Avey Tare announces new album

Avey Tare, of Animal Collective, has announced his latest solo project titled “Eucalyptus”.  It will be released on July 21 on Domino Records, and was recorded by Deakin of Animal Collective.

Circuit des Yeux is one of the most under appreciated musicians on the scene today.  Her voice is absolutely stunning, and her record features some of the best songwriting and compositional chops that I’ve seen in an extremely long time.  This music is transcendental, beautiful, powerful and moving in every way possible.  I LOVE it.

The new Horse Lords mixtape is pretty good! It’s a little bit sloppy when compared to their recent proper full length album, but one must consider the fact that it is a “mixtape”, after all.  The recording features guest features from fellow Baltimore musicians Bonnie Jones, Abdu Ali and Will Schorre.  Definitely worth a listen, and make sure to snag one of those limited edition cassette tapes before they are all gone!

Absolutely loving the new Aaron Dilloway album! Fantastic sounds paired with a lo-fidelity feel and a strange twist that only Aaron could put together.  Give it a a chance, it’s very rewarding!

The new Kendrick Lamar album is disappointing.  Not nearly on the same level of expert artistry as To Pimp a Butterfly.  That being said, it is extremely difficult to follow up an album that is of such high quality.

Cascading Elephants comes through with another perplexingly psychedelic and complicated track from the upcoming album “Mind Palace”, out June 10 on Trunk Show Records.  The song is chaotic yet soothing, combining a variety of sounds and textures into a dizzying composition that is catchy and unnerving.

Future Islands are back with a new full length album on 4AD called “The Far Field”.  It is much tamer than anything the band has ever released, which is a bit of a bummer.  Despite the tame nature of most tracks here, the songs are well written.  Go see them perform live in order to see what this band is really all about.

Spoon get weird and experimental on their new album! The experimentation pays off on closing track “Us” but could be integrated more smoothly in other places on the album.  Overall this album is excellent and is definitely worth giving a change!
