Not much to update with. I’ve definitely given myself permission to avoid going over to the WW with the borescope. My gut tells me it’s a lost cause, but who knows? WeeWaggy Wellness Check. I finally got over to the resto shop to check out the rust by the spring hanger. Understatement. Folks I don’t like our odds here, but I’m going to throw these pics out to the mass XJ brain of the internet. The first couple pics are the WW being the WW. The next couple are the rot that has progressed to eat away the metal above the rear passenger side spring hanger. The last are the floor donor piece which does have the spring hanger attached from the donor vehicle. The main questions are structural integrity and suspension related. Is this fixable/salvageable / can it be made whole this way / or do we need to cut our losses now. Sigh. I don’t know. Not there aren’t other updates to be made perhaps, but a WeeWaggy update arrives. A few of the things we’ve been waiting on have been the wood trim that borders the faux wood paneling. I received work on these that they should be done by the end of the month. Booyah. From there the rest of the body work can be finished and the old beater can come home. This is an enterprise I’d take on for sure. How busy we’d be … who knows. Fun fact, I saw a Wagoneer limo for sale years ago and briefly considered the idea. Should’ve bought that thing. I know right where it is now 🤣 and it’s doing great I’m sure. On the rest of things. No news. Just a lot of waffling. It’s been so long since anything has progressed it feels easy to hang it up and move on to something else. Another day another Jeep ad. Once upon a time this was my ideal XJ. Red and chrome. Now that Im old I guess, I think more about a nice forest green limited. 🤣. I do think these years were the best / most iconic of the XJ line with the interior, paint schemes, and that slight protrude to the grill. Nothing to report on the Waggy really. Parts hunting. Another classic Jeep ad, what can we say? Once upon a time I planned to find one of these, too, rare as they are now. With taking possession of my late father’s e30 that’s just not an option at this point….not unless I pay for storage; the idea of which kind of offends me. Part of the appeal of these (and any wood sided vehicle for me, let’s face it) to me is the ZJ platform will always make me think of my mother. She had a 93, non-Waggy, and she just loved that Jeep. One of my fondest memories of her was when she let a buddy of mine and I take it off road with her. She giggled like a kid the whole time. I don’t know how many of ya’ll saw this on BaT but I was watching with great interest. I’d have snatched this beauty up if I had the room. None of us are going to get rich off an XJ (🤣🤣🤣😑🤣), but there sure is something gratifying about seeing 20 to 30 year old XJs fetching these prices. Maybe it’s just nice to be right. So among all the things I didn’t think would happen, this happened. I (one 1/2 of the Wee Waggy deal) feel like I should come clean 🤣. It’s not replaced the WW but it certainly has eaten up my time and disposable resto budget, so to speak. It’s my late father’s E30, and there’s been a short but busy resurrection process happening. It also presents a challenge because - and I’m not going to try not to bore anyone with this particular first world problem - but we have too many cars, and only budget (and room) enough for one deep-work type project. So I find myself at a conglomeration of vehicle woes these days, and progress on everything has slowed. I’m feeling apathetic and I have to make a choice I don’t want to have to make. I don’t think the WW is going anywhere, but I can’t let this thing go either.
