Thanksgiving Festival || Vivi & Raguna
Raguna lay on his bed in the Fugue Mansion, staring blankly at the ceiling– well… it wasn’t his bed really, but it would be the one he used for the remainder of his time here. Raguna still owned his apartment, and paid the rent for it and everything, but after what happened with Felicity… he just didn’t want to be there anymore. Being in that apartment only reminded him of their fight, and how she up and left him– left him. Alone. Just like his parents left. Just like Ivan did.
Everyone was always leaving him… but considering the things he’s done, he couldn’t blame them. Maybe it was better off for him to be alone, and not bother anyone anymore…
Suddenly, a call from downstairs interrupts his thoughts, and he sits up in bed and looks wearily at the door. It sounded like Vivi… she sounded upset about something, too. The farmer lets out a heavy sigh at this, reasoning that he must have done something else wrong again. Why couldn’t he stop messing up?
He slowly stands up from the bed and leaves his room. The farmer walks to the head of the stairway, looking down towards the bottom of it–
–only to see a horde of monsters surrounding Vivi!?
Raguna immediately braces himself, and reflexively grabs for a weapon that – damn it all – wasn’t there. Crap, he had no time to run back to his room and grab a sword! Vivi sounded like she had been in real distress, not to mention the fact that the monsters were literally on their doorstep surrounding her! She may have known how to use magic, but she was more likely to hurt herself with it than the– wait.
Magic!
No need to grab anything when he could just hurl a quick spell! Raguna gets ready to charge up a wind spell when he looks down at Vivi and notices the… grin… on her face. When she speaks again and immediately dispels his thoughts of the monsters being hostile creatures there to kill them all, the farmer slowly relaxes his posture and stares down at her dumbfoundedly. He blinks and, at her request, walks down to the foot of the staircase where she and the… strangely barn animal looking monsters were standing.
Raguna furrows his brow in confusion and looks back to Vivi, who he finally notices is clothed in a pretty fancy dress. What was this…? “Uh… all of this,” He gestures vaguely to the makeshift zoo around them, “is for me, you said…?”
Having him come downstairs was all fine and dandy, until he asked if the “gifts” were for him. Her immediate reaction was to deny everything and let him know that it’s not because she liked him or anything, however, she bit her tongue and turned half way around to keep her face somewhat hidden from him. She could feel her cheeks heating up over this tiny exchange, so it was frustrating and a little bit irritating deep down. Why was it so hard to be affectionate towards Raguna?
“...Yes. All for you. Don’t you know that today is that stu-- human holiday,” she started, speaking strangely considering the way she avoided insulting things as per usual. “Today is the Thanksgiving Festival... I... You see... I...” What did she even want to say? This entire time that she was working on making money and buying his gifts, she never once stopped to think of the way she’d talk to him after the fact. Words weren’t exactly her kind of deal-- Let alone kind words. Not around him, at least, even if she spent a long time hiding out in his room. It was still hard to show how much she cared because she was mostly scared of appearing weak-- And now she’s managed to spend much too long thinking about this! Standing there, silently, wasn’t going to make things any easier. He’d know for sure that she cared too much about him, especially with how she was trying to be careful about sounding rude about everything.
Vivi let out a sigh, turning on her heel to give Raguna a swift glance before placing her focus on the Woolies that were now running in a circle for whatever reason. “I hope that these creatures will be useful... Since you run a farm... I... Have more to show you...” Dear Goddess, why was it so hot in here all of a sudden? “Here, I think it’s an ostrich and the bag is yours too!” she exclaimed, shoving the dragon egg and bag into Raguna’s hands before hastily walking straight past him to open the nearest closet door. The witch grabbed three tools: the Mystic Hammer, the Mystic Hoe, and the Mystic Fishing Rod, then she stepped back over to the farmer to present the items to him by holding them against her chest-- They were too heavy to hold out to him all at the same time. “I had to buy these just to make sure that I could afford everything in the end and I really worked my ass off! These tools are for you though, since you can’t expect yourself to be a GREAT farmer without proper tools! So you better apprec-- You better be hap--” This was no good. BE NICE, she reminded herself.
With furrowed brows, Vivi turned her face away once more and spoke in the softest tone she could manage: “Please, cheer up, I mean.” Now he would definitely know something was up, but she didn’t want him to worry about any of this. Why she was doing this, how much she’s worried about him, and that it was starting to get to her that she wasn’t exactly good moral support for him. Was she even good enough for him in the first place? As a friend-- as anything-- why are these thoughts even coming to mind? Her expression was contorted, easily matching the feelings she had inside, and she didn’t know how to tone down how overwrought she was overall. “...If you don’t like any of this... That’s fine... I’m sorry if I screwed up at all...” Why were tears even building up right now? AND WHY DID SHE HAVE TO BECOME SELF-CONSCIOUS ALL OF A SUDDEN?! Honestly, she was making herself really angry as she kept chewing on her own thoughts.
...I can make him happy or I damn will keep trying!
