Genetically Engineered son of Yelena Belova and Alexei Shostakov The Red Room took the genetic information they had on both Yelena and Alexei and created a child they would hope to mold into a perfect weapon. Loyal to Russia and his handlers to a fault, he has been brainwashed from birth to do as he is told, when he is told to do it. And so, they decided to try and bring the Wolf Spider program back. As soon as he was old enough to survive the process, Konstantin was given the same serum his mother was given. While ruthless, he became the first successful Wolf Spider in the modern age, without any signs of being a psychopath or difficult to handle. "Everyone has a price.  I found the waiter's."  Feeling a little out of his depth, he played it cool and just pulled up a chair in the woman's formerly private room at the restaurant they were in.  "My name is Konstantin Shostakov.  I am a newly defected product of what the Red Room called "Project Reawakening."  Using the genetic material from their former agents, they made children and molded us from birth to be weapons."  He placed his entire file on the table before her.  "They used Alexei Shostakov and Yelena Belova's genetics to make me.  Or...should I say they used his and yours.  I'm not here for a mother - I wouldn't even begin know what to do with a parent - but I suppose I am curious.  They purposely told me nothing about you and everything about him."  He paused.

"And if you want me to leave, I will leave and this will be the last you've heard of me.  I don't want to cause any trouble.  I know you didn't choose any of this any more than I did."

Alina became frozen. Sleep was something she didn’t want to do right now. Things happen when she’s asleep. Alina shook her head against his words but a simple, “Yes sir.” confirmed her orders were understood. “Here, or in closet area?”

"Here is fine."  He nodded, gesturing for her to lay down with him.

"I can't sleep."

"I doubt any of us except Shane and Ana managed sleep.  But you can come lie down with me if you like."  Konstantin held the covers open for her.

"Her stomach is highly upset and she is dehydrated. I would suggest that if there is any kind of electrolyte drink here that she take that. Toast or anything light on the stomach." Alina shook her head as she scrambled to her feet. She needed to get the list of supplies and right now she had all the time, despite her need for sleep.

"I’ll start on an inventory list. Where’s the paper pad and a pen?"

"I will give it to you tomorrow after you've slept, Alina.  Right now we all need you at your best."  He chided gently.  "Go to sleep.

"I can't sleep."

"I doubt any of us except Shane and Ana managed sleep.  But you can come lie down with me if you like."  Konstantin held the covers open for her.

"Roger that." The command phrase left her lips as if it had been spoken a thousand times over. "I mended his chest earlier. He lot a lot of blood." Alina was starting to ramble on to Konstan like he was the commanding officer. "He’s going to need a lot of iron. I would suggest red meat or dark leafy greens to increase his iron intake. " It was a simple status update that she was giving her brother. God

It was such an odd term for her to use.

"I'll be sure to see to it that he gets that.  What do you suggest Anastasia eats?  If we can get her to eat?"  He asked, trying to keep his sister calm and busy.  "We are holding this safehouse, so you are effectively the medic in this facility.  When you have the time, take inventory of the medical supplies we have."

"Black Widow confronted me outside. She requested that I called her ‘Nat’ but there is no way I can. She is an adult officer and needs to be addressed as such." Alina slowly sat herself up on the bed with a sigh. "Just what am I supposed to do, Konstantin? I don’t know my role here."

"I think she will be ok if you call her by that for now."  He said gently.  "Your role?"  She was young, she hadn't had as much chance to be in missions to see the outside world.  "Your role is to see to Shadow Two's health.  He was severely wounded.  Take care of him."  He outranked her, technically, and maybe having something to do would help her be calmer.  "And we are to stay here until further notice."

"If we get caught we’re going to be killed. That’s the main thing on my mind." Alina shook her head a bit, moving away from Konstantin. "I’m conflicted. The emotions, the sudden showing of affection, it’s not sitting well with me. It’s against the plan."

"We're not on a mission, nor is anyone going to hurt us for taking comfort in each other.  The Department is who killed Vlad, and we escaped.  We're safe and we have our own skills as well as The Winter Soldier and The Black Widow protecting us.  Currently, this is the safest place we could be from harm."

Alina wished she could feel something towards the rest of the group but she rarely got to work with them as much as they had worked with eachother. They had merely been seen in passing, it was by a blessing that she was Konstantin’s co-pilot as of late.  She was almost sure that it had something to do with her ability to see in the dark. 

Did others know of her ability?

"She just lost her brother. Her twin. This is a somewhat normal reaction for someone who is trained as a weapon." Alina turned her head up to look at her Brother. "They were completely dependent on eachother in a way. It’s like waking up one day and being completly bind. It’s going to scare the hell out of you, and you’re going to freak out. Eventually, through the hard times, she’ll see the light and come around. We just need to give her time and watch her closely."

Alina, always the voice of reason.  "I still worry about her.  I worry about you too.  How are you handling this?"  His siblings were all he had in this world.

In the new age of espionage and technology, the Department decided that they could regain their operatives, their weapons, they just needed to breed their operatives and make infants they could mold from birth. It, for the most part, worked out, and many sub programs were formed.

One half of the Shadow Program escaped once Natalia Romanova got intel that her son was being held. What she did not find out was that she had three more children there, as well as the other former products of the Red Room. Present day, The Shadow Program has been regained and is being caught up alongside Project: Gemini, the renewed Wolf Spider Program.  Or at least, they were.  The operatives are nothing short of angry, for one of their own has been executed. Vladimir will be avenged. Project Reawakening will be torn down brick by brick along with every person involved if it kills them in the process.

What was he doing?

Alina was brought close to her brother. The feel of human contact so close to her was unnatural. The Assassin fought the urge to fight him away. No. This needed to happen. She rested her head against his shoulder. “I don’t know what to think.” She softly muttered. Their whole life had been turned upside down and she was lost.

He exhaled a sigh.  "I think the only one who does know what to think is Aleksandr, and maybe Alexei.  The rest of us are lost.  For now."  He was the last of his particular line and Konstantin knew he had to make the best of it.  He held his sister a little closer and sighed.  "I'm worried most for Ana.  All she does is cling to Aleksandr.  It's nothing like her and I worry that when she wakes up from that she's going to run.  Maybe committ suicide by trying to single-handedly take down the Department."  They all wanted revenge but it had to be planned out carefully.

It took a minute, but eventually…slowly…Ana reached out to take the water bottle from Kostya. She didn’t unscrew it or make any motion that suggested she was going to drink it. But she took it.

Baby steps, right?

Shane motioned that he'd get her to drink and Kostya nodded, taking back the proverbial reins from Alina so she could finish stitching Shane up and Kostya could fly the plane.

Okay so I'm literally so tired I'm hallucinating that very static icons have somehow become gifs.  Considering I've gone two days with only four hours of sleep I'm not terribly surprised at this notion.  Will reply to all the things tomorrow.

The Russian slowly moved herself closer to her brother. It was such an odd concept to her. Alina never knew that she would be allowed to lay so close to someone before. She got the edge of the bed and slipped out of her boots, climbing in besides him.

His parents were dead, parents he'd never known, and all he had were the siblings the Red Room had wound up providing him with.  Had they been allowed to continue he could have lived his life without ever knowing but now that he knew he felt a certain amount of protectiveness over them, especially Alina.  So, taking a page out of Ana's book, he more or less pulled his sister close, finding human contact like this rather comforting.  He didn't like this feeling thing but it would seem it was in human nature.  He'd have to get used to it.
