“Sarah, what could we possibly be doing at midnight?” You ask tiredly as Sarah brings you up to the rooftop

You two had just spent the whole day together, and you had planned on going home hours ago but you just didn’t want to leave her. Everytime you see her smile your heart does 100 backflips and you just know your cheeks get redder than roses. She was just so gorgeous and you were so in love but you never so much as thought about telling her, you thought she just had eyes for her brother's friend Jack. 

“Oh you’ll see y/n!! It’s gonna be fun!!” 

Sarah looked over her shoulder at you and smiled in a way that made you feel like you were seeing an angel. 

After a bit Sarah had finally gotten you up the fire escape and onto the roof. A summer breeze warmed up the rather cool New York night. Sarah had brought a lantern with her so you both could see. She set it on the edge of the wall before turning to you again and gesturing for you to come stand with her. You smile and walk to her side.

Sarah leans her head on your shoulder and you feel your heart begin racing and your face begin to turn hot and red. Your smile only grew as you found the confidence to put your arm around her. 

“It’s a beautiful night out huh?” She asked looking out into the city

“Yeah..it is..you can actually see the stars for once!” You reply with a smile as you point up to the sky 

Sarah’s face lights up and the shine from the stars is reflecting in her eyes so bright you can see it even when you aren’t looking at her. A bright smile crossed Sarah’s lips as she looked around at the sky. You were so distracted watching how happy she was, for a moment you didn’t even notice her grab your hands. 

“I have an idea!!” Sarah said, excitedly breaking the silence

You were startled out of your lovesick haze at her voice. You didn’t even have time to respond before she spoke again. You didn’t mind though, the sound of her voice was the most therapeutic sound on the planet. It was better than music or birds chirping, it felt calm and safe...and like you were home. 

“Let’s dance!!” Sarah said with a jokingly formal tone to her voice

You chuckle and are enticed to say yes but then you realize the small issue.

“S-Sarah- I don’t know how to dance..I’ve got two left feet” You mutter awkwardly

“Oh don’t worry about that!! I never said you had to be good!! It’s just about having fun!! Pluuussss it’s just us two!!” 

Sarah noticed your hesitation and intertwined her fingers with yours and placed her hand on your cheek.

“I can teach you! It’ll be real fun Y/n I promise!! And if it’s not we’ll do whatever you want tomorrow!” 

“Alright..” You mutter

Sarah moved one of your hands to her waist and immediately you tried to ignore your racing heart. She held your other hand and she put her other hand on your shoulder. She slowly showed you the steps and you had all your focus on her. She said the counts out loud to you and she slowly picked up speed and began to let you lead. You finally looked up and you both turned a soft shade of red as your faces were within inches of each other. Under all that blush Sarah looked so proud of you and all the worry and hesitation you felt melted away and you enjoyed the moment. 

The world around you faded away and you just focused on each other. Nothing could hurt you, you were safe as long as you were in Sarah’s arms like this. You started feeling rather confident and spun Sarah and smiled brightly hearing her giggle as you did. She spun back in and soon enough her back was against your chest. You both paused for a quiet moment before Sarah turned to you. She lightly put her hands on your cheeks and quickly gave you a small kiss. She quickly realized what she did and covered her face. “Oh my goodness!! I didn’t mean-”

“No!! No it's okay!!! You have no idea how long I've waited for that..” You said, shocked you could even get a full scenence out. 

Sarah moved her hands and a smile formed on her face before she hugged you. You wrapped your arms around her tight and couldn’t help but smile so brightly. 

“I-i love you Sarah..”

“I love you too y/n..a lot..” she said softly
