“Glad to hear it.” Neal arched a brow then. “We hadn’t caught on to that. We do have some information that might interest you though about their recent activities. By tie up loose ends does that mean making them sleep with the fishes?” He was teasing but wouldn’t be surprised if the answer was yes.

Neal didn’t answer her question, studying her intently and leaning back a little at her abrupt reaction. His hands smoothed out his suit jacket a bit, response mirroring her own.  “We’re willing to keep going until we find what we need. You alone are worth that cost. Your handler...even more so. ”

“The FBI did the same thing with me. You can know someone’s crimes and track them down to one individual without knowing their exact identity. Your alias and recent movements are enough to connect all the activity back to you.”

Neal beamed at his comment about the French police, enjoying this banter considerably now. “No, it’s still a bit of a surprise though. You seem thorough. I think I’ll enjoy working with you on this. Speaking of that, why would MI6 get involved with this case?”

“Someone did their research.” Neal didn’t seem unsettled by this but entertained that someone knew about some of his past antics. “Both. The french police were furious even though you were trying to help. Typical bureacracy issues.”

“Glad to hear it.” Neal shook his hand firmly with a bright smile that seemed to light up the entirety of his demenaor, mannerism appearing at ease.  “MI6, that’s really nice. I almost ran into you guys once before. Very effective and a little intimidating.”

“We’re getting very close to having something and you can’t assume we won’t get it because no one else has in the past. Mr. Caffrey. I’d say I know who you are but I can’t say exactly for now.”

“Sounds impressive.” Neal beamed then, accepting his hand and giving it a firm but balanced handshake. “It’s nice to meet you, Q. I’m Neal Caffrey.”

“Yes, that’s me.” Neal appeared rather skeptical then, giving a slight gesture to the general room. “We’ve been working on the details of this for awhile. I hope you aren’t here to take over.” He arched a brow slightly as he anticipated his response.

“Mostly yeah. They have a ridiculous number of guidelines for attire and hair. It’s kind of impractical. That aside though, you aren’t looking like you belong here... Are you aware this is a crime scene?”

“No, you didn’t but you should be working for the FBI if you’re at this crime scene currently...” Neal observed him with more amusement than genuine concern. “What are you doing here?”

He already had a few excuses in the back of his mind for this, hesitating in the midst of holding a file for only a mere moment. 

                      “Oh, they didn’t? Terribly rude of them. I’m sorry about all this.”  He tucked the file under his arm and gave him an apologetic but bright smile, offering a hand to him in greeting. His demeanor was warm and welcoming, the sort to put others at ease.                           “You must be the remarkable professor himself.”
