Bad experience at Steven Universe Private autograph session at New York Comic Con 2016
Me and my sweetie went to the Steven Universe private autograph session on the 4th floor of the convention. At first, we were told that we needed an email with a printout of a ticket from the guy that was checking/scanning the papers. We didn’t have, we almost left the area, but he understood our....what’s the word, I’m looking for....confusion? Sure there’s a better word I’m looking for. Because, we never gotten word that we needed a printout. So, he was kind enough to let us go in the line. But that wasn’t the bad experience. The bad experience was the fact at a guy in front with a black shirt on was saying “no more pictures with Rebecca Sugar and the VA’s, also keep the conversation to a minimum” we were okay with that and a lady was passing around a poster to the fans of the characters on the bottom and on top had a clear space for them to sign on. So, as we became the 3rd or 4th row and got closer, then suddenly we were told to turn around and leave?!?! Are you kidding me?!?! They couldn’t stay an extra 15-20 minutes?!?!?! We and others, including the kids were saying “nope, we aren’t leaving” even a woman(might of been a parent)voiced her frustration loud and clear, said the words that we were all thinking so, she could the words out of our mouths and the VA’s and Rebecca didn’t even seem to care about our frustration and anger. They couldn’t stay?? Not even for the kids?!?! I thought Steven Universe VA’s and creator were all about their fans from young kids to young adults. I strongly believe by them doing this they lost a good amount of fan base. I’m sure once words gets around about this they will lose more fans. This is the same exact thing happened in NYCC2015 when me and my sweetie were going to meet Rebecca Sugar in the autograph section on the bottom floor, the line was already capped and it wasn’t even close to her autograph session to being over. The people that were controlling that line were being assholes. Let me ask you, are we right to be angry about this? Do you think Sugar and the VA’s should of stayed a bit longer to make the fans leave with happy faces and enjoyment that we got to meet the great VA’s and Sugar? I mean, they ARE about the fans right?
