Joan nodded, tipping back the rest of her drink, now about to work on her third one. Three was a good number. Three would get her drunk. As she pocketed her phone she looked down at her dress and realized how utterly stupid it was of her to be wearing it. This was Greg. They were mates.
“Wait, what do you mean he’s afraid that I can’t actuallly see you?” She questioned, forgoing the beer from the bartender and asking for a shot of whiskey instead.
Bringing work home was him was a complaint his ex-wife had, really it was a complaint most people who knew Greg had. But he was pretty fresh from his shift here and you can’t just turn it off. Greg was making an effort to be a pleasant guy, not cranky and quiet like he’d prefer right now.
So at her question, Greg had to bite his tongue. “Nothing, it’s nonsense. All of it.” he groaned, Pointing to his pint while they had the bartender’s attention to get another one.
“Surely something else noteworthy has happened in your day.”

Joan was already a pint in by the time Greg had gotten there and she was working on her second. He looked like he had a rough day. Even with the bags under his eyes and his scruffy looks she still found him pleasent.
“I’m sorry, but at least after a long day you can still come and grab a pint with a friend, right?” She said, clinking her glass agasint his. She went to sip at it, but her phone buzzed with a text. She sucked in a breath hoping it wasn’t from Sherlock. It was.
After a few moments of soaking in the information of the text she looked up, rather dumbfounded. “I-I don’t even know what to say to him. He must be off his rocker.” She said, holding up the phone so he could see.
It was a text asking her if she was seeing Greg, the man right in front of her.
Greg gave a quick, confused look before shrugging a shoulder in agreement. Having drinks with friends was far from a day off at home, in comfortable clothes, in a comfortable chair, watching whichever match was on. Though the food was about the same (and Greg liked that).
“Could just be he’s afraid you can’t actually see me. Did you eat anything weird today?” Greg rolled his eyes. He’d clocked out and as much as he cared about Sherlock it felt too much like work. He didn’t want to deal with that right now or his ridiculous messages.
After a short, fake laugh, Greg took another drink. This time not trying to down the glass in one go. He was settling in a little and finding his way to relaxed.

Joan found herself dressing up for the night. She usually went for her typical jumper and jeans combo, but decided a dress would be a better choice for the night. She even curled her hair a bit. As she stepped out of the room and into the middle of the flat, Sherlock gave her a glance. “I thought you were just going to the pub with Lestrade?” He asked.
She slipped on the heels she had choosen for the night (which still did not do a lot for her height) and looked at him questioningly. “I am.”
He shrugged and went back to his experiment in the kitchen.
The cab ride to the pub wasn’t long. Once she arrived she posted herself at the bar, checking her phone to see if Greg was close. Some of her best moments were talking and drinking with him.
Having found himself hung up in a video call, Greg was late to the pub. He didn’t think all that much about it, it was Joan. Not that she didn’t deserve his time but they were mates and you didn’t have to be prompt to drinks with mates.
Looking a little disheveled after a full day’s work, Greg strode into the pub with ruffled hair and leaving all coats in the car. The bags around his eyes were heavy but when weren’t they?
It took less than a minute to get a pint of stout in his hand and he walked over to where Joan was sitting. Collapsing into the chair with a sigh he’d clearly been holding all day. “What I wouldn’t give for a day off,” he said, then took a gulp from his glass.

Whoop here it is!
I think other muses are stronger in my head Bruce Banner but I’ve got a three day weekend and I’m going to be around on all blogs a lot. Probably finding cabin fever faster than I want to admit. Not sure I remember what to do on indie, man. Do I just start talking to people??? I need things to write.
I’m around. IM is open.
I got no new tricks, yeah, I’m up on bricks but me, I’m a machine and I was built to last.

i know I said I was coming back here .... and I am it’s just that I happened to get terribly, horribly sick. Meaning I did little more than go to work and then come home and sleep. (Add to that the forest fires around me making it hard to breathe and see...)
I’m recovering, finally, but I just wanted to say I didn’t forget about this blog already. I think I still have a few nights of too much sleep ahead of me but I’m going to switch my phone to this blog. Talk to people, try to follow people, etc.
Just popping in to say today is Greg's 51st birthday.

Jim laughed hard at that response, wondering how truthful the DCI was being after all.

I did miss this. Our little back and forth. Perhaps I can take you out for drinks and we can catch up? Wasting time in person, rather than sitting behind a desk staring at a screen?

Greg hated how interested he was in meeting in person. Just to find out who this was, maybe book him for something. Trumped up charges weren’t the answer. If he was truly honest with himself, there was something about being treated as capable mixed with being challenged that was right up Greg’s alley. All his cases seemed mundane, he felt a little bit too much like Sherlock suddenly. Before he started barking insults at everyone, Greg backed out. He didn’t get excitement, he stayed with the same old cases, they were exciting enough. They were in his skill level.

Disclaimer: I am, um, not great at medieval things. I don’t know much of anything. I know more knights of the round table from The Kingsman than I do, ya know, the lore and my first idea to this was literally the plot to Aladdin but with knights and stuff. After enlisting some help, I got somewhere I like. xD
[ 1 ] Greg is a totally awesome knight but he’s also that been-there-slayed-that kind too. “Dragons? Boring, send the new guy, I’ve killed like four dragons already this month and it started yesterday.”
[ 2 ] The new guy he sends out to do all his work is this super mysterious type dude. No one knows where he came from or anything like that, he just sort of showed up with armour one day and was all “I’m fighting with you losers now.” and Greg really likes him because he’s not afraid to say things like “that isn’t even what knights do, don’t get me to do stable boy work just because you’re older than the walls of this castle.”
[ 3 ] Greg stops sending this new knight on quests that are beneath him and starts actually challenging him and the knight is above expectations each and every time but he never really hangs out to drink with the gang or celebrate their raid victory. This disappoints Greg.
[ 4 ] After a good few months of little excitement there’s a big knight-battle-thing and Greg is in charge, among him are his two oldest friends and the new knight, plus a few expendables. Things go super well. Only six people get trampled by horses. Someone dies of dysentery, though.
[ 5 ] SURPRISE! The new knight who kicked major ass and probably saved Greg’s bacon (literally and metaphorically, he was hungry, shush) is Lily! In disguise because, ya know, no women knights and stuff but she’s too bad ass to play a damsel in some tower. Oh, no, she’s going to kick some ass.
