“Shit,” Gabriel swore under his breath. He’d just spent the better part of a half hour chasing after some kid in a hoodie he caught trying to break into a car with a coat hanger. At least, Gabriel thought it was a kid. He had his hood up and wasn’t very tall, but that didn’t exactly narrow it down. The brat was really really good at parkour, which made following him even more difficult. Eventually the perpetrator clambered up the side of a fire escape and disappeared. Gabriel knew at that point that he wouldn’t be able to follow. He had a scent, but it wasn’t enough. It would dissipate at some point. He leaned heavily on a bench, trying to catch his breath, when he felt eyes on him. “Nothing to see here,” he grunted out, trying to adjust the shirt of his uniform. It had come loose from his belt during the chase. “Police business.”

“I saw everything. I can follow them.” Tatum announced strongly, eyes fixed on the fire escape where the person had disappeared. “Please, officer sir, man, trust me.”  Serious with their word, Tatum was already itching to jump into a pursuit be they got permission or not. No one ever gave them a chance at doing big things like this, and Tatum knew that this one time they could really handle the situation. Besides, they had their beef with the escapee when they had shoved innocent Tatum aside and send people’s precious mails scattering out from Tatum’s bag. “ C’mon hurry up and say yes before they get too far!”

She’d been asking me forever for this dollhouse and now we’ve broken the most important part.” Huffing Tatum sat back and crossed their arms. “I told you we shoulda followed the instructions! You owe Ria a new dollhouse!”

“They fly in SYNC  and it’s SOOOOO cool!!!” Tatum threw their hands out excitedly in their explanation. “Didn’t you see them in the Super Bowl?! Lady Gaga’s half time performance?! They were all twinkling behind her like stars and then they changed color WHILE STILL IN SYNC and then they formed into the American flag and then she JUMPED OFF THE ROOF, but the cooler part was afterward during the commercials when they showed the drones again and they were making the logos of stuff and did you know they just had like two people making them do that? You did watch the Super Bowl and saw them, right?”

“ I can’t find it, ” Sadie stated, almost hopelessly as she flipped through a pile of pillows. “ I can’t— I’m gonna be late for work. I need my necklace. ”

Dodging the pillows Sadie tossed with a quick step left and a hobbled step to the right, heavy wrinkles frowned down lower on their already droopy eyes. Tatum gave a soft unamused bark, to at most to get Sadie’s attention after pillows were tossed their way. If she kept moving things, it disrupted his thorough sniffing! Standing alert as a brown and black, smooth-coated , bloodhound, Tatum’s head dropped back down, long ears sliding along the floor, as they started to sniff the ground again. In all the movies,  Bloodhounds found everything so as they poked their nose around the nooks and crannies of the space, without a doubt Tatum was going to be able to sniff out Sadie’s missing necklace.
