CONGRATS TO THE WOMENS USA HOCKEY TEAM AND THE WOMENS TEAM ONLY

The Olympics is one of the only sports competitions where we get to see women’s sports held in the same regard as men’s. Sometimes the women’s event gets even more of the spotlight if we have medal contenders competing and the men’s side doesn’t. To me, it’s a space where sports can be what they should be in a perfect world, equal.

So seeing this belittling of the women’s team accomplishing the SAME thing as the men’s team, a gold medal, just is that more disappointing that it took place in this space that is kind of sacred.

And honestly, shame on the men for laughing when you know first hand what it takes to accomplish something like that, the time and dedication and effort. And you did it as a paid professional when a lot of these women have other jobs and have to work even harder to get there.

And finally, shame on the president of United States for making fun of athletes who just went out and brought home a gold medal for their country. What an embarrassment as a leader.

True shoutout to Joaquin Castro and Jasmine Crockett who went to that detention center and made sure Liam got home to Minnesota; you can call it a publicity move but they did not have to do that. They went out of their way to check on the family, report the conditions they were living in, and make sure Liam and his father were promptly released once they had the court order and put on a plane and safely sent home. That's what elected Democrats should be doing. (Even if it's not enough, it's better than the literally nothing Chuck Schumer is doing rn)
