I cannot emphasize enough: if you are a person who likes to say, "But I was in [x leftist space] and people were antisemitic to me!" what the fuck are you doing there?
I don't organize with neo-nazis because I know we do not share the same vision for a liberated world. Why would I organize with people in leftist spaces who are parroting their talking points? I wouldn't. I'm going to go organize with comrades who believe me and share my vision of liberation. My anxieties as an organizer really lessened when I realized I have no obligation to convince leftists trying to give the hottest take that antisemitism is real. I'm going to go organize with my comrades who give a shit about me.
Honestly, "the left" does not exist, but that's a story for another time.
"antisemitism is also a leftist ideology" congratulations:
"In Search of the Enemy of Man" by Thích Nhất Hạnh
An excerpt from his 1965 letter to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
"In the Buddhist belief, life is not confined to a period of 60 or 80 or 100 years: life is eternal. Life is not confined to this body: life is universal. To express will by burning oneself, therefore, is not to commit an act of destruction but to perform an act of construction, i.e., to suffer and to die for the sake of one’s people. This is not suicide. Suicide is an act of self-destruction, having as causes the following:
lack of courage to live and to cope with difficulties
defeat by life and loss of all hope
desire for non-existence (abhava)
This self-destruction is considered by Buddhism as one of the most serious crimes.
The monk who burns himself has lost neither courage nor hope; nor does he desire non-existence. On the contrary, he is very courageous and hopeful and aspires for something good in the future. He does not think that he is destroying himself; he believes in the good fruition of his act of self-sacrifice for the sake of others. Like the Buddha in one of his former lives — as told in a story of Jataka — who gave himself to a hungry lion which was about to devour her own cubs, the monk believes he is practicing the doctrine of highest compassion by sacrificing himself in order to call the attention of, and to seek help from, the people of the world."

I continue to believe the only path forward for the health of the Jewish community is to build a popular movement for Diasporism. No nation-state will protect us, so we need to build towards a future that speaks to our need for safety and interconnection without the reliance on borders and militarization.
And since when has the culture of our ancestors been irredeemable? People were taught to hate their mother tongues; they didn't intentionally decide to look back on their ancestors with disgust for their languages, religious practices, food, and politics. Jews with power in our community, taught our community to look on things like Diaspora languages and pronunciations as inferior. They may try to remove choice from us, but each of us has agency. We get to decide how we look upon those who got us to where we are. In Pirkei Avos it is written, "Know where you come from and where you are going." We will need clarity on both these elements if we are to succeed in building the world we want to live in.
Wow, did not recall tumblr being this Zionist. People will say literally anything about Palestinians or Arabs and claim it's "just historical fact." Things have changed in certain ways: I have much more clarity on the fact that not all Jews are my Jews. Sometimes, it's your own folks working against your community's liberation.
anyone in this thread smoke weed
Wheres that old poster where it's a jewish woman and a palestinian woman shaking hands and saying something like "my history taught me to stand in solidarity with your people"
