Cats Hate the Water [Open Thread]
In all her life, all eighteen years of her life, Rosalyn Lalonde has never been to the beach.
Of course, the petite blonde had seen the beach on numerous occasions. Just only through television, articles, and the internet. With living in New York most of her life and her mother never having the time off with her job and certain problems, it was hard for them to go have family outings.
Yet here she was. Eyes solely locked on the crystallized water that crept on the sandy shoreline. She ended up getting dragged to the beach due to how outrageous it was that she had never been to one. Taking in the curiosity, she reluctantly agreed to attend such an adventure. Hoping the new experience would be a bit invigorating as well as give her time to relax without the stockpile of work and stress weighting on her shoulders.
Or so she thought, until she stepped into the water.
She hissed a bit at the cold water lapping at her feet. It took awhile to get use to especially the further she went in. Only to stop once the water rose to her hips. Enjoying the moment of the ocean water and the sun rays hitting at her backside, slightly wondering why she never opted to join her friends on their beach parties. Maybe this wasn’t as bad as she thought—
Well that is, until her eyes met face-to-face with a growing wave that came out of nowhere.
Her eyes widened and her body went stiff at the size of the wave. Before she had anytime to process and “ride the wave” or simply jump, the water crashed down knocking her to her backside. Unlike how others may react to being knocked by a wave, the girl spluttered spitting out the water. Her whole body drenched in water and eyes stupidly batting at what just happened.
Similar to how a cat would act when near water, Rose shot up with an aggravated yowl. Eyes screwed with anger, she glared at the ocean with disgust. Not minding how childish she was acting, she stormed out of the water back to her things. Plopping herself under the shade and onto her chair with her arms crossed against her chest. At that moment she decided for the remainder of the trip she wasn’t going to foolishly walk back into the water. She’ll just stay on land, under the shade, and far away from the accursed salty water.
In the mean time, she had some catching up in her reading to do.
