This is Takashi. He’s an Akita mix (not sure if American or Inu) we had rescued a few days ago and unfortunately we cannot keep him! We can only foster him for now, so we’re looking for someone who can take him in and love this adorable pup. Please read every detail below if you are interested.

He’s a healthy looking dog, we believe around 8-10 years old, most likely dropped off here at our apartment complex by his owners who didn’t want him anymore. He was very confused and very cold. I couldn’t leave him outside to freeze to death, so I took him in and gave him a strong, noble name (and yeah I did get the name from Shiro fite me). He clearly has signs of abuse. He would freak out if you tried touching him underneath his belly or anywhere underneath his legs. Basically if he couldn’t see where your hand was going, he would snap at you. He’s grown to trust me, but I made the mistake of feeding him pieces of a treat, which he thought I was stealing from him and he bit my hand pretty hard.

He also has mange so he does scratch a lot and has a few scabs in his skin.

Takashi still doesn’t trust people and he hates small dogs. He gets along with big dogs, but he has not been neutered yet and will try to dominate them. He is an Akita after all and Akitas are naturally dominant. Hopefully we can get him neutered and up to date on his shots, but right now we cannot afford it. He is good with cats.

I also would not consider having Takashi in your life if you have children or children frequently visiting your home.

But other than all of that, Takashi is a very sweet and loyal dog who by overtime may learn to trust and love you. He can be stubborn by nature, but is very smart. He has grown attached to me, he might do the same for you.
