 Wood Restaurant - Cervinia, Italy

A while back the mouths ventured through northern Italy in search of snow, cold and a little wilderness.  Being one of the warmest winters the alps has ever seen snow conditions were far from ideal, but that does not stop us from finding things to put in our mouths.

The wood is a little gem snuggled well in the town of Cervinia.  This place is what I call snug.  This place makes you feel like the little spoon. 

Super kind waiters, decent english, but what do I know after being offered Prosecco before my bum has time to warm the seat. 

Onto the food.  Tasty....wait hold... tasty as f***.  The gnocchi was mindblowing along with reindeer steak.  like i said MINDBLOWING.  

verdict? the mouth recommends!

Les Fils à Maman 

Meh, great idea of a small french bistro (low ceiling feel inclusive) but the food was very meh.  Not cheap at all for meh food, burger wasn’t awful but neither did it deserve to be charged at 300hkd a pot.  Fries were super meh, dried, cold and overly salted not good on the mouth feel factor.

The mouths are alive!  Although super lazy to share the tales (for a year?), the mouths have not been lazy at all.  

So Kimberley’s mouth and the other mouth celebrate being roommates.  A michelin star seems appropriate for such an occasion.  

Obviously expensive but oh so very tasty.  So very worth every penny paid.  Bread was so hot it burnt my hand, flavours so delicate they take you to such a happy place.  

Kimberley’s mouth all time favourite was the mushroom tea, so good you would want to bathe in that stuff. Another winner was the amuse bouche of steamed egg with a fantastic tomato paste. Cherries and beets were another winner so good wanted to lick the bowl.

verdict? Kimberley’s mouth recommends!

Amazake. Hong Kong. Meh. One of those where Kimberley's mouth feels cheated. Meh quality food at this-should-have-been-so-much-better-for-the-price-oh-my-gawd-why-did-we-even-come-here-regret-when-we-get-the-bill price.

Kaya Korean Restaurant, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong

Kimberley's mouth was tired from shopping and needed some heart warming things to put in her mouth.  

Walked into Kaya, sat down, ordered enough to feed a village, ate it all, left.

Kaya, isn't the best nor the worst.  Fills a hole with a somewhat hefty-ish price tag.

BLT Burger, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong

Kimberley's mouth wanted to be filled with meat between a bun, so Kimberley's mouth got meat between a bun. 

Standard fastfood burger joint, food on the heavy and salty side but great for filling those holes when you have the urge/craving for it.

Liberty Private Works, Hong Kong

Kimberley's mouth celebrates a quarter century of having delicious things put into it. 

The other mouth booked a month in advance and made two bookings JUST to be sure and managed to secure the booking on the exact date.

LPW is a small "chefs table" restaurant where your mouth salivates while watching your meal assemble before you.  

At 900HKD for an 8 course meal, who can complain? Everything was tasty but not as OTT as other diners have said to be, however the experience was pleasant and gave Kimberley's mouth a very happy ending to her evening.

津味園, Chun Mei Yuen

The new area had many dim sum specialties.  Kimberley's mouth and the other mouth went to explore. 

The selection of dim sum was good, not too little to limit your choices but not too many to confuse you. 

All the dishes were made to order and served pipping hot to your table.  The taste?  FAR better than the raved Tim Ho Wan.  

The most interesting dish was the ja leung, usually a steamed rice pastry wrapped around a deep fried bread stick.  This place however stuffed it with deep friend tofu skin wrapped around radish! A very pleasant surprise!

The scallop and chive dumplings were moist and fragrant in the mouths.  Another favourite of the day was the custard buns.  All the buns actually had a wonderful fluffy pastry.  

Mouth's were satisfied and wallets not burnt.  Wont even think of returning to Tim Ho Wan as long as these little dim sum places still exist!

北斗翁頂尊火鍋料理, Beidouweng Hotpot Cuisine

Still no stove, Kimberley's mouth hated the new home hence the other mouth decided to take her hotpot to cheer the mouth up. 

The other mouth LOVED the sofa, to be honest it was dayum comfy. 

Beef, lobster (on offer for 38HKD!!), ostrich, clams, veggies were ordered.  All very very fresh and tasty.  Bitter gourd and pork rib soup base was refreshing. 

Kimberley's mouth was much happier after this meal.

Ma's Restaurant

New home, no stove, eat out. 

Kimberley's mouth and the other mouth decided to explore the area a little and stumbled across this little gem.  

Everything halal and loads of lamb dishes.  The lamb curry was spicy and so moreish. 

The best was the pan fried dumplings stuffed with lamb mince.  Made to order and OOZING with meat juices once broken open.  Very enjoyable in the mouths. 

We visited the Tong mei road branch, but its currently under renovation and the very kind lady at the store told us they have another larger store just around the corner with more choices on the menu!!!

京川滬風味小食坊

After a hard days of packing, moving and cleaning Kimberley's mouth needed some lunch.  A new area hence a new hot and sour noodle joint is needed to be found. 

Good but different from the usual place in Hung Hom.  More numbing and the noodles are more like springy glass noodles.  Gyoza and dumplings came with a noodle set (and a drink) for $40.  

The other mouth loved the dumplings and gyoza's.
