also let’s not forget “the only person i’d run through an airport for is you” like that’s having a sister that’s what it is. this whole show drives me absolutely feral “this is a love story” “i’ll take it” “choosing the right place to put it” “i want to take clean cups out of the dishwasher and put them in the cupboard at home and the next morning, i want to watch my wife drink from them” GOD this show deserved every award it won

Happy new year of the Condescending Carp!
(it’s a bit late but the Discworld Emporium only sent the news today)
“No one is finally dead until the ripples they cause in the world die away, until the clock wound up winds down, until the wine she made has finished its ferment, until the crop they planted is harvested. The span of someone’s life is only the core of their actual existence.”

addicts deserve compassion. addicts deserve love. addicts deserve safety and medical care and a warm place to sleep and food. being an addict doesn't make you a bad or dangerous person. addicts are some of the most violently treated and neglected members of society. it's time to change
Miniaturist Perfectly Recreates Historical Interiors at a Staggering 1:12 Scale
On his popular Instagram account, artist Chris Toledo shares ornate interiors and bathroom remodels. There is one distinct difference, however, between his handiwork and the type of thing you’d find on Pinterest. All of Toledo’s interiors are miniaturized at a 1:12 scale. If it weren’t for his hand cramming into the small spaces—or a full-sized toothbrush towering in the bathroom or a real head of garlic taking up half the kitchen—you’d never realize how tiny these places are; his details are just that impeccable.

Washington Post puts Felicia Sonmez on leave after post about 2003 rape allegation
Sonmez did not write the piece, which was published by the Daily Beast in 2016 and is entitled “Kobe Bryant’s Disturbing Rape Case: The DNA Evidence, the Accuser’s Story, and the Half-Confession”. Nor does she cover sport – she writes for the Washington Post’s politics team.
However, her decision to share the article about the accusation that dogged Bryant early in his career – and ultimately resulted in him reaching a financial settlement with his accuser – drew a furious and widespread backlash from fans of the player. Many felt the tweet came too soon after the death on Sunday of Bryant alongside his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others.
The backlash resulted in Sonmez’s post getting “ratio’d” – the term for when a tweet attracts substantially more replies than the number of retweets or likes, suggesting it has been divisive or badly received.
Those encouraging criticism of Sonmez included Donald Trump Jr, the son of the US president, who said: “You Washington Post reporters really can’t help yourselves, can you?”
…
Sonmez initially justified her decision to share the article about the case on Sunday, saying: “To the 10,000 people (literally) who have commented and emailed me with abuse and death threats, please take a moment and read the story – which was written 3+ years ago, and not by me. Any public figure is worth remembering in their totality even if that public figure is beloved and that totality unsettling. That folks are responding with rage and threats toward me (someone who didn’t even write the piece but found it well-reported) speaks volumes about the pressure people come under to stay silent in these cases.”
Her bosses disagreed and suspended her. Tracy Grant, the managing editor of the Washington Post, said: “National political reporter Felicia Sonmez was placed on administrative leave while the Post reviews whether tweets about the death of Kobe Bryant violated the Post newsroom’s social media policy. The tweets displayed poor judgment that undermined the work of her colleagues.”
