A/N: this was difficult to write qwq because I don’t know how to write him now that I did the Lost in the roots play test

Warnings: yakob is kinda a dick but not on purpose, no beta reader, no spoilers for “Lost in The Roots” but there are slight references, depressed yakob, short

☢️ extremely secretive no matter how close you two are, but it’s only so he can protect you. There’s things out there that a lot of people simply cannot comprehend, and he doesn’t want to expose you to that shit. He doesn’t like someone that’s pushy, just go along with what he says and you’ll be okay and he’ll be happy.

☢️ very proudly calls himself a “provider” lmao. He’s not one of those “I’m a high value man!” guys, but he does definitely have some superiority complex. He’s a little insufferable, but like in a way where you know he’s not trying to be a prick, he’s kinda just like that naturally.

☢️ accidentally condescending? Like that’s just the tone he constantly has and it’s never intentional. It’s hard to get used to at first, but you eventually will, and you understand that he doesn’t mean anything by it. Once again, he has a major superiority complex so he kinda by default sees you and everyone else as people who aren’t as “enlightened” or “educated” as he is.

☢️ he’s really into physical contact and acts of service. A big fantasy of his is cooking for you while you cling to his back and he feeds you in his arms. He’s so hyper aware of the fact that either one of you can die at any moment, and while he knows he’ll see you in the next life, he still wants to cherish this one with you as much as he can.

☢️ every night is a restless one, he’s constantly kept up by night terrors and worried thoughts. Now that he has you, it’s so much harder to keep the bad thoughts away. He wants to protect you, but he knows that he can’t. He’s so worried all the time about what could happen to you at any given moment.

☢️ girl dad all the way. Yakob is so incredible with children, he would make a perfect father. Once all of this passes and you two are still together, he would definitely object to starting a family, but he would not object to maybe taking a kid in. He would feel too bad letting a kid enter this world.

A/N: anon… I love you… thank you… anyways, I haven’t written for Thiollier in a year so this might not be so great sorry

🪻Thiollier never thought he deserved this kind of attention, so he’s extremely reluctant to trust that you have good intentions. You constantly try to help him, offer him companionship on his expeditions, and watch over him during the night. It’s unsettling, but he doesn’t know how to tell you to stop.

🪻what makes him truly trust you is when you accompanied him on the way to the cerulean coast. The journey took about a week total, and you were quick to make sure there were no bumps in the road. There’s a bear? “I’ll take care of it Thioll,” there’s some poisonbloom? “Stay here, I’ll gather them.” If anything hostile gets too close you Thiollier, you’re quick to take it out.

🪻under your protection, he finally feels safe enough to get some good sleep. He suggests finding a tower to sleep in so you don’t have to stay awake all night, since you’ve already helped him so much. Even when you two are both sleeping, you wrap around him from behind and keep him safe and sound.

🪻at this point, he tries not to verbally acknowledge your behavior. He quietly shows his appreciation by dressing your wounds and making your food. Thiollier would die if he had to actually mention your dedication to him. It makes him embarrassed just thinking about it.

🪻when you reach St. Trina, the same events from the game unfolds; however, when he invades you, you refuse to fight him. You just let him use all his resources and tucker him out. It’s not that hard when he’s naturally extremely sleepy at all times. You let him fall asleep and you stay by his side until he wakes again so you two can talk.

🪻being around St. Trina seriously fucks with his mental, and now that you’ve heard her voice? It’s hard for him to deal with. He cries and moans and sulks a lot, but you stick with him. You give him all the time he needs and assist him with anything right by his side.

🪻Thiollier appreciates you a lot and he tries his best to show you. His entire life he’s been hurt and abuse just for being who he was, but for the first time he feels safe with you. He would never say that out loud, but he knows you know. He’s never had to be so lazy til now, that’s the part he loves the most.

🚪 she only likes kind people. Anyone who’s too blunt or rude is someone she doesn’t want to be around. With all the shit a he’s had to deal with, she just wants to enjoy whatever nice moments still exist in this new world. An unkind person just reminds her of all the bad shit and she just needs to forget it for a moment.

🚪 physical affection is near non existent in the beginning of your relationship, regardless of if it’s romantic or platonic. It will come with time, but she’s a very cautious person and doesn’t trust easily. You may say that you’re safe and that she can trust you, but how is she supposed to know that immediately? Very much a slow burn with her, but her kindness shines through from the very beginning.

🚪 she’s naturally very caring. If there’s anything wrong, she will try her hardest to try and help, but if it’s beyond her control she’ll get the homeowner to help. She can’t stand to see the people she loves hurt.

🚪 in a world without the visitors, she is very outgoing when not stressed from work. She loves movies, so when she takes you out on dates or vice versa, she always takes you to the cinema. If she doesn’t have enough money for that, then she’ll let you pick a movie and you two will watch it in her apartment. She is unfortunately one of those people who talks allll throughout the movie, especially if she’s already watch it before.

🚪 Major animal lover. She had pet dogs all throughout her youth, but she didn’t have any once she left for college. At some point she considered having a smaller animal like a cat, but she figured that she would be too busy. If you and her progress your relationship enough, an animal would definitely be considered to take her the place of a child. The thought of having children makes her anxious.

🚪 her sweet tooth is huge and it’s a big thing she complains about inside the closet. She missed chocolate so bad, so maybe you should ask the homeowner to order some and surprise her! She will certainly not let you doubt her appreciation.

A/N: got a request asking for bar guy x reader headcanons but i accidentally deleted it :( hopefully they can find this!

Warnings: alcohol and alcoholism, Yesenin being drunk, GN reader

🍺 Yesenin is extremely easy to impress. You’re kind to him and are willing to have a drink either him at night? He’s practically in love already. Not actually, but he really appreciates when someone isn’t disrespectful. He tries to show respect to everyone at first, but later on they need to earn any further respect. Be good to him and he’ll be good to you.

🍺 he broods a lot, and you just kinda have to let him. He does not like when people try to brighten his mood with cliche lines such as, “the night is always darkest before the sunrise.” He’s realistic, and he wants realism from his partner in return. Now he can’t deal with some 24/7 pessimist that only makes everything more depressing. Having depression is fine, he himself has it, but to him it gets to a point where he can’t handle it.

🍺 affection makes him very shy. Especially gift giving and physical touch. He prefers acts of service and words of affection, but even that makes him a little doubtful. You find him attractive? No that can’t be right. You enjoy his company? No one enjoys his company, so why would you? Eventually you’ll get passed that hard skull.

🍺 his frame is quite bony, so it might not be too comfortable to snuggle with him, but he enjoys sleeping touching back to back. Being sweaty and having his limbs tangled between others is not appealing to Yesenin one bit. He also doesn’t use much blanket, so feel free to hog it all want! It’s often that you’ll wake up to him with no blanket at all, but he doesn’t mind. It gets him too hot.

🍺 when he drinks he actually doesn’t get sad and numb, nor does he get angry or lash out. He’s really talkative and much more approachable. It’s easier to get conversation out of him, but don’t take advantage of that too much. He enjoys drinking with others too, so he really loves a partner who also drinks.

🍺 he goes to sleep superrr early. It’s the old man in him that causes him to knock out at 7 pm. Only time he stays up later than that is if he’s craving a drink, then he’ll drag himself to the bar and might stay up till 10. He prefers day drinking though or even a drink before bed. It upsets him deeply that he can’t stay up and drink as late as he wants like he used to be able to.

Warnings: depressed protagonist, protagonist is still in love with his wife, as healthy as this man can be, mentions of paranoia, GN reader, mentions of having kids/being married

📺 He never thought he’d let anyone close again after losing his wife, but you’re definitely getting there. He has a super rough exterior, but he’s soft once you’re able to get past all of his walls. He likes to crack small jokes, but nothing you’d belly laugh at. He’s very gentle but can be very snappy when aggravated and his witty comebacks are the best.

📺 You would need to initiate at the beginning, but once he catches on that you’re interested in him beyond a homeowner/guest relationship, he might begin to initiate if he’s interested, and in the case of this post he very much is. He’s not much of a talker, so alot of his affection in the beginning is offering a drink or snack. He wants to make sure you’re okay and have everything you need first and foremost.

📺 If you sleep with him in the bedroom, prepare for a rough night. He suffers from awful night terrors and it results in thrashing and squeezing. In his sleep, he will grab you and squeeze you so tight, you need to wake him up in order to get him to stop. After he gets comfortable in bed with you, he gets real comfortable. Like,, puddles of drool comfortable.

📺 His paranoia is bad when it comes to who’s a visitor and who’s not. If he comes to the conclusion that you’re a visitor? He just sucks it up and tries to keep you with him as long as possible until everyone is dead or FEMA comes. Speaking of FEMA, he always has notices on hand so they don’t take you.

📺 The photos of his wife stay up. He doesn’t want to forget her and he will not compromise. The love he has for you eventually grows so strong that he obtains photos of you to put either by their lonesome or right beside his wives photos. He loves you both and can’t even imagine if he lost you.

📺 protagonist has very high functioning depression, so if you are to be in a relationship with him, you need to be okay with that and willing to help if that’s what he wants, or just let him be if he doesn’t want any. He can function like normal, but there will be periods of time where he will not eat, talk, sleep, or take care of his hygiene in full completion. If he needs help, he will make it known. Otherwise, he does not appreciate what he perceives as pity.

📺 He is the kind of guy who would want to settle down. If the visitors left and the sun decided to not explode, then marriage (and possibly children) will definitely be a topic of discussion. He wants to have a life with the person he loves, and hopefully that person is you. He is very good with kids if that means anything to you.

Bar Guy x Gender neutral! Reader romantic headcanons Summary: Love has lips that taste like cigarette smoke. Content warnings: talk of canon typical violence, slight angst, slightly nihilistic ideologies (from bar guy only), some headcanons show reader possibly being a visitor. Bar Guy is one of the more awkward people to fall in love with. He can be rather pessimistic, quiet, and drowsy, but he’s no terrible man. 

The first time you had met Bar Guy was when you were standing in line to get into someone's house, his humming and coughs were the only thing that managed to break the silence in the darkened summer night. It had been a small sniffle from you that made him realize that someone stood behind him. The simple glance was enough of a greeting, acknowledging each other might have been the most romantic thing you’ve experienced with him. Bar Guy’s eyes weren’t hateful, just a blank look you would give anyone. A blank look was better than a mean look. 

Bar guy isn’t the type to shy away from the sadness of the world. He knows the world sucks, not everyone can handle that it’s true, and they don’t always like him. You have to at least accept his words with some semblance of understanding. He won’t want to be around you if you just spend your time trying to say he’s wrong about how he feels. The bar felt the same and kicked him out, so he won’t be as willing to disregard your opinion on it since thoughts like those led to him having no shelter. 

He won’t want someone as nihilistic as he is, but not unrealistic to the extent it’s almost debilitating. Being in an echo chamber of your own saddened thoughts isn’t fun, so it’s similar with a partner. Bar Guy wants you to understand why he thinks the world is as bad as it is without having to reassure him that it’s not true. He likes that you can just say “I know” after his rather pessimistic statement and lay beside him like the dirtiness and destruction of the world didn’t affect the way you saw him. 

Bar Guy isn’t the type of man to obsess over physical affection, if anything, it’s not preferred. Yes, he likes a simple kiss or cuddling while you sleep but it’s not something that touches his soul like verbal affection. He’s a man that has a way with words and he wants the same from you. He wants to know that he can just point out the subtle things you’ve done within your time together or tell you about a loving statement with the same blankness that he has with every other speech and for you to know he means love. When it’s from you, he likes hearing you compliment him. He’s not a spectacular looking man (by his own standards) but hearing you say that you think he looks nice -even in these trying times- is something that will give him a warm feeling in his chest. 

Bar Guy is an observant man; he notices any changes in the way people think and the vibes within a given space. It applies to you too, even before anything romantic starts. It would be subtle things in the beginning, noticing how you’d fidget because of nerves or how you’d stare at new guests in the home. As the relationship got more romantic, the observations would go in the same direction. Early in your relationship, he would notice how you’d fidget when you’d want to kiss him, the way you’d clean yourself up when you thought he was asleep or the way you would scoot closer when you both slept on the couch. It’s one of his favorite things to do. It’s a mix of natural instinct since he likes to people watch, but also because he gets the opportunity to know and understand you better, even through things you might not notice you’ve been doing. 

The end days will heavily affect how you both go about loving each other. He won’t be able to give you much at all, maybe the clothes that a visitor died in if he was forced to have it, or his portion of a food you happened to like, sadly they’re not promised things. His word and himself is all he can one hundred percent give, a place he can hide you from the sun or the food aren’t things he can promise either. Bar Guy can allow you to sleep beside him, the warmth of his body and the smell of cigarettes on his shirt will give some sense of homeliness, only because it’s a connection to him. 

Being attached to someone in the end days is almost the same as opening the door to the midday sun and expecting not to experience the heat or some type of burn. Bar Guy knows the mental and possibly even physical destruction falling in love can cause, especially now. The possibility you’re a visitor, you get caught in the sun, or you’re consumed by one of the damned creatures that walks the earth. They’re all possibilities that end in nothing but heartbreak for him. He tries his hardest to have some type of emotional distance, something to love you with but not enough to hurt himself. It’s a difficult feat that he can barely commit to and as the relationship progresses, he almost abandons it entirely. 

The fear of visitors is not lost on your relationship. Each time the homeowner comes into the living room to check the both of you, Bar Guy will make note of anything that could seem “visitor like”. Your teeth are nice and straight, but your nails are fine? He’ll take note of it, but he can’t straight up ask about it. He’ll be a little less willing to be around with you if you’re showing “too many” signs. Of course, he won’t try turning his back on you, he’s not the type. 

If you ever ask if you’re showing signs, he won’t lie to you. He knows it hurts but it’s the truth you must hear. Bar Guy would listen to you cry about the possibility, understanding that he would have cried just as much. You’re grieving the life you could have had, the creature you possibly are becoming. He’ll try his best to comfort you, trying to kiss you and letting you lay beside him. Hell, if he had a beer, he’d give you it just to help you.
