They're both new at this. Heiji's detective brain overthinking romance, Kazuha planning how to teach her clueless boyfriend, both learning what "being a couple" actually means.

All those missed chances now make sense. Looking back at almost-confessions, interrupted moments that led to this, "we were so stupid," grateful for the journey but glad it's over.

It took Heiji A SINGLE DAY to uncover Conan's real identity, after meeting him only once.

It also took Heiji A SINGLE HALF LOOK of Kaito's face to think he could be related to Shinichi (yet Conan never even questioned WHY Kaito and him are very similar in looks...right?)

been thinking about heikazu now that they're officially a canon couple and how aoyama is going to handle their relationship once the manga comes back from hiatus because like.... if he comes back with a whole different case it's going to be so weird not seeing the immediate reaction to such a development other than both of them holding hands. what about kazuha telling ran about it? what about heiji and shinichi discussing it? and how is he going to handle the big milestones in their relationship? we're going to have to see their first kiss, but granted that's not going to happen unless we see a case with them.... how long is it going to be between cases? how realistic is it that two teenagers who've been crazy about each other their entire lives (so crazy that heiji was even determined to kiss kazuha without even confessing to her first) won't make out until they're conveniently with ran and conan again??? aoyama has an excuse for shinran cause they're separated, and he even had one with sato and takagi because we never really saw them start to date and so we understood their first kiss as the first step towards that relationship being official, but that's definitely not the case with heikazu. are we just supposed to believe that they're dating and not going beyond handholding til they meet up with conan and ran again??? and how is this relationship going to affect shinran? i've argued many times before that canon heikazu is bound to provoke some kind of emotional reaction for shinran, what with their best friends being in a relationship and being able to be together while they're still separated.... how is it all going to play out? and how exactly are we going to storm aoyama's home when he comes back with a fucking detective boys case after the indefinite break??

Once, Heizuha's daughter showed off her omamori that Kazuha made to her friends. From then on, everyone in her class wanted one, so the kid secretly started an omamori business. All she does to get her supply of omamori is this :

"Oka-san, I don't think the omamori is working. I almost tripped down the stairs today"

"Oka-san, I don't like the colour of this omamori anymore. Can you make me some more in different colours?"

"Oka-san, I lost my omamori in PE class"

"Oka-san, I don't know where my omamori is"

At some point, Kazuha noticed her daughter was just being weird about her omamoris. So, for funsies, she ganged up with Heiji to corner their daughter to a confession.

"The truth is, my friends wanted an omamori as well. I'm sorry"

The two of them were amused before explaining to their daughter that she doesn't need to hide it. In fact, Kazuha was happy to make some more for her friends.

Since her daughter wasn't sure what colour her friends wanted, Kazuha just made a bunch of omamoris in different colours and told her daughter to just give the extras away to other kids.

Imagine the Hattori's couple surprise when suddenly, for the first time, they were called in by the principal for a 'concerning' matter regarding their daughter.

"Sir, Madam, are you aware that your daughter is running an omamori business?"

Apparently the business has grown so big that even students from other grades are interested as well. The business itself isn't particularly harmful, but the problem is that the limited number of omamoris are so high in demand that there have been fights and disputes over it.

"I believe that it is in the best interest that the business is put on hold for a while. Maybe until the craze over the omamoris cools down"

After profusely apologizing to the principal, they took their daughter home with a long lecture in the car.

"Didn't we make it clear that lying is a big no-no?"

"Well, technically I didn't lie. I just didn't mention that I turned my friends' interest in omamoris into a business opportunity"

"Sweetie, not telling the whole picture is considered lying by omission"

"I'm sorry"

When they arrived home, Heiji pulled his daughter close while Kazuha was distracted and whispered. "So, how much did you make, kiddo?"

His daughter grinned. "A lot"

"That's my girl"

"HATTORI HEIJI WHAT ARE YOU TEACHING OUR CHILD??"

Both father and daughter nervously replied "NOTHING!"

At one point, teachers at school figured that if Heiji and Kazuha got into trouble together, they didn't bother calling both parents. Just one set of parents were enough because said parent would scold both of them on behalf of the other.

"and what did you guys got into this time?"

"Heiji dragged me to climb up the tree to save a cat"

"But then Kazuha forced me along to scare that new kid who kept bothering her"

"so I'm supposed to tell the poor kid's mother that her son sprained his ankle after you two jumped from the tree all because he was annoying?"

*silence*

"You two are not getting desserts for two months"

"NO!!!"

"and I'm telling BOTH of your fathers"

"NO!!!!!"

Headcannon that little Heiji and Kazuha ride bikes together in the neighborhood but would occasionally fall down from their bikes once in a while (as we all do).

If Heiji falls down, Kazuha would either panic and fuss over him making sure he's alright, or laughs at him because he fell down immediately after making fun of her.

Heiji on the other hand would go "Ahou! How could you fall???" but immediately helps her out because he learned that a crying Kazuha was not something he wanted to deal with.

My current favourite thing from the anime non-canon episodes is definitely the "A Mystery on A Girls' Day Out".

In the episode, Haibara, Ayumi, Ran, Sonoko, and Sato coincidentally meets up with each other and hang out just the five of them. And of course, they're roped into whatever cases the day brings.

IT'S JUST SO FREAKIN ADORABLE AAAHHH.

It's even funnier because Haibara ends up being the chill and composed one in the group. Sato, despite being an adult, is constantly happy and cheerful when spending time with the girls. So imagine Haibara with 4 other hyperactive girls, getting dragged along with the investigation.

Spoiler alert : she solves the case.

AAAAHH IT'S ADORABLE AND WHOLESOME I LOVE IT SO MUCH!

I was so happy to find out there's another "A Mystery on a Girls' Day Out 2". It's episode 1176 for international fans by the way.

I love the dynamic of this unexpected group. I hope they continue with this really cute concept. I need more.

Like I have a list of my favourite episodes so I can rewatch them again at some point in the future and already five out of the twenty episodes I've listed are in the 100s.
