“It is not like them to miss check-in. I’m certain something’s interfered, beyond the need for subtlety.”
She doesn’t just suspect---she knows. Alas, the man has a point.
“I know it may not seem this way, but once upon a time I had a hand for subtlety. Far too many Hutts know me by now to suspect anything less than blasters blazing, however.”

She ducks under the spray of blaster fire, her fingertips scraping the duracrete in a fluid motion towards the droid line. The ground shakes, and blows the offending droids off their legs --- and out the blown out walls of the building.
Only then does she note him there.
“Were you separated from your squad?”

“My commandos have missed check-in by exactly twenty three minutes.”
“I’m going to retrieve them.”

“I’m on call.” Cael sat back in his seat and stifled a yawn before it could overtake him. “I’ll get some sleep at 0700.” He could use the company, but he wouldn’t outright ask. Cael gave the General a knowing smile. “Well, if you are going to be up for a bit, I was going to try and tune in to the GAR ‘net music broadcast.”
“I see.” It was as much of a noncommittal reply as one could give. She recognized the request as it was, and allowed herself to, at the very least, consider it. And yet, even as her greater sense of duty reprimanded her idleness, she still found herself coming to sit beside the doctor. “Their taste in music is, at the very least, always interesting.”

You let Grievous do the job? [ what the hell is she getting into here ] How was that ever a serious consideration---?
“Something stronger… would be nice. But this, I really need. Thank you.” Cael took the bottle of water and raised it to her before taking a drink. It was still cold. The sensation seemed to wake him up, even a little. “Are you turning in for the night, General?”
“I had been considering it.” And that’s what it was---a consideration, and nothing beyond. She owed it to herself to get some rest, and yet, instead, she took to making sure the head doctor on site was hydrated. A distraction was a distraction, and she would take them where they fell. “And you?”
*sees another Jedi starting to doubt the Order* *finds the latest superior dental plan the Separatists have on offer*

“Nothing I haven’t experienced before. Normally one suffers from tinnitus thanks to the training. I was the lucky one to get migraines ‘stead.” He was of course utterly stubborn, time wouldn’t stop because his head hurt a little. He did however cast around a moment for any place that would be nicely out of the way, perhaps in shadow. Instead he opted for just leaning up against a wall and leaning his head back until the crown of his head also pressed to the wall. “Got a nice spot here by the wall,” he remarked with a crooked grin.
As she approaches him, the height difference feels sorely emphasized. She perseveres, holding to her patience even as she lingers just outside of respectful distance. The day was done, and though she had a mountain of reports to slowly whittle away at, they could wait. “The wall will not carry you if your legs need rest.”
It was not hard to feel second hand the steady pulses of pain that rippled off the ARC. As calm as he appeared, the Force did not see to accommodate him in his resistance.
“I can try to ease some of the pain.” It would not be the first time she had to. “If you allow it---or I order you to get some rest.” As low as it was to go there, it would not be the first time she had to do so, again. “It is your choice.”
“I have a vested interest in anything that other people typically find unbearable.”
“Mhmm.”
“One of your brothers was certainly in a hurry to attend. I don’t suppose you’d know why that is, would you?”
“I’m a little disappointed, to be honest. Someone told me I could find medical conferences out here.”
“Well, you can. The last conference was located on Falleen --- but I don’t claim to know why anyone not a medical professional would want to sit in on them.”

A rough day. Cael sat down for the first time in twelve hours. He should have been hungry, but he was only numb. Footsteps were approaching that didn’t belong to any of the droids.
“Oh.” Cael looked up at her with a faint smile. “It’s you.”
“If only everyone would greet me that way,” she tsked with a soft smile. Pausing in step just behind and at his shoulder, she held out a bottle of water. “Thought you could use something to drink. I’d get you something stronger, but looks like we’re fresh out.”
