I also hate how hard it is to find competent resources, especially ones covered by medicaid. It’s like if I want to find a decent therapist, I’m going to have to move to NYC or The Bay

I’m so sick of this fake fucking city. If I had the money and resources I would move in a heartbeat. Too many traumatic things have happened to me here, it’s at the point where I’ll have PTSD reactions just walking down the street cause I’m passing a spot where I was raped or assaulted. Living here really fucks with my mental health issues...

Anonymous Activists Just Painted The Stonewall Statues Brown For Miss Major
“We painted them because Marsha P. Johnson, Sylvia Rivera, Miss Major, Storme DeLarverie and all the other Black and Brown people who led the movement deserve credit for their courage and strength. What we did was rectification, not vandalism “

Please give this a quick read and reblog! Today, I’d like to take a few moments to type something up and mention something.. awful that happened to an acquaintance of mine over facebook. This is Ruby Corado, and she’s a trans woman of color in DC. She fights for change for trans people (and fights hard, as you can see by the photo of her standing next to the president) and even operates ‘Casa Ruby’, a temp home with other assistance for homeless trans women in DC.
Recently, she tried to move (personal home move, not Casa Ruby’s location move) along all of her belongings, but the moving company just.. stole everything. They packed up her stuff and unloaded it in some warehouse and the police are refusing to do anything about it because apparently its all in the fine print that they can do this if they want, or… something. I’m not really too sure about the fine details. That last photo? It should be full of personal belongings, but as you can see its quite uh.. empty. If youd like more details, feel free to ask her yourself over Facebook, linked below. I just know she’s in a pinch and I’d like to spread the word to Tumblr and not just Facebook, since people are often a little more kind to us here than on other social media.
If you can help her to recover from this, please consider visiting her youcaring page below.
I convinced Ruby to make a tumblr this morning as I mentioned I’d be making this post, its still pretty fresh and empty but Ruby’s tumblr is in the following contact information and YouCaring link:
http://rubycoradodc.tumblr.com/ - Tumblr (hasnt been able to turn asks on yet)
https://www.facebook.com/ruby.corado.5 - Facebook (contact her her if you have questions)
http://www.youcaring.com/ruby-corado-413813 - Youcaring / Donations
http://www.casaruby.org/ - Casa Ruby link (her lgbt homelessness / assistance organization that will likely be adversely affected by this)
As for the issue itself, the moving company in question is City Movers DC (their website). this review site shows some very mixed reviews, from ‘horrible and unprofessional’ to ‘THE BEST’ to other people reporting being robbed entirely. Maybe leave some reviews or send some emails to them? If this post gets big and they start getting hundreds of angry emails, they might get worried enough to start fixing things.
Thank you for your time, and if you can’t help please signal boost this for her instead!

Can we just say that this happens.
I’ve read that one, the ending is really disturbing...
it’s the one year anniversary of mike brown’s murder so this is a reminder that black lives matter, they have always mattered and they will always matter. take a moment to think about the lives lost to police brutality and how that affects you and other people in your life. Ferguson is not over. we are still here and we are still fighting and we will not be silent.

Be aware of your Pride and what exactly it is you’re proud of and who you’re throwing under the bus to get that pride.
Love this minus the “It’s almost like he’s not LGBT at all”
That’s the point though- it’s calling out assimilationism and respectability politics and how the mainstream gay rights movement panders to cishet expectations while throwing the rest of us under the bus.
Ok, I get it now, thanks
Most white trans guys don't really care about lifting anyone up other than themselves.
I wish people weren't so afraid of me.
