This girl's such a badass!!
Love the Anzac Day dawn service ❤ The whole town wakes up early to watch the sun rise and honour the armed forces. Lest we forget.
The only good thing I’ve heard about this (obviously, because it’s fucking the worst), is that the pilot was amazing. And hell yeah she’s Navy!!
While we're underway, our Sailors work long hours every day to ensuring we're able to meet our mission. Check out this video to see what our Sailors do with ...
Join the Navy, paint the world!
If you ever find yourself getting nostalgic for the old coffin racks of your Navy days, go ahead and get an MRI! 30 minutes in a tube with weird vibrations, bumps and noises going the whole time and I still managed to pass out like three times.
When you rattle off the phonetic alphabet like it never left your brain 10 years after getting out of the military.
#Navy #Slang: Geedunk, or better known as a “Geedunk bar,” was where sailors got their ice cream. Anybody have any good stories #veterans #veteranstories
Fun fact: my deployment diet on the Reagan was about 62% geedunk-sourced, because the line to get chips and “nacho cheese” dip was usually shorter than the chow line.
#Navy #Celebrities (August 1980): Kirk Douglas (Left) stars in “The Final Countdown” as Capt. Matt Yelland, commander of the USS Nimitz, the world’s largest nuclear aircraft carrier that is transported back in time to Dec. 6, 1941 off the coast of Hawaii. Peter Douglas (Right), Kirk’s son, produced the action/suspense thriller.

There really need to be more time-traveling aircraft carrier films in the world.
In case anyone’s wondering how awesome Navy people are, my friend just lamented being trash-talked for having big boobs, by other women at the pool. Which is total shit.
All the Navy ladies: “You have BOOBS?!?! I’d look.” “I had no idea. Secret keeper,” and I had to tell her about the dream I had the other night where some of us were back together frolicking in the ocean, just like we did on port calls in Hawaii. Her with her big boobs, all of us joking about “matching seaweed-scented pussies” (I have no idea what weird little corner of my brain that came from).
You can always count on your Navy people for some weirdness and some love. Mostly weirdness.
Back out from boot camp what a great time that was let's not do that again.
Well apparently basic training has not changed much since 2001.
If the term, “military grade”, impresses you, you’ve probably never been in the military
I remember my year in military grade--that's the one after 10th grade isn't it?
I'm so incredibly nervous for boot camp.
But I’m genuinely only afraid of medical. I hate shots, so I’m scared of those. (Woot for penicillin allergy. Get to skip one.)
And I’m petrified of getting a Pap smear 😂 I’m 19, so I shouldn’t get one anyways.
But yeah, those are my two worries. 🙄
Aw yay you’re going to boot camp soon!! My first shots ever were in boot camp. I was so sleep-deprived though I didn’t even end up thinking about it that much.
And Paps are SO IMPORTANT!!! They catch this one fucking thing that could kill you if they don’t do them. Yay being a woman. They caught pre-cancer in my pap last year, and now I’m a huge advocate for just getting it done. My first pap was boot camp as well and I was a virgin. So that was great. I remember being worried too, but it wasn’t that big a deal in the end, just highly uncomfortable but, you know, yay being a woman.
But try not to worry! Just follow directions, get yelled at, learn how to sailor good. You’ll do fine!
For a film that has a major, a sergeant, and various commanders/uniforms, Valerian totally lost me trying to get across a human-military-type-environment where folks are inappropriately hitting on subordinates, bragging about ‘9 years in the service’ while looking like a 14-year-old, and saying dumb shit like ‘When faced with humiliation or death, a soldier chooses death.’ COME ON!
Much love to the folks stressing and internally debating whether they should join the military.
Just to put it in a little perspective, I signed my life away on a 6-year contract in a field I had no huge passion for (nuclear power), enjoyed it and made the most of it, and then I got out of the Navy 10 years ago.
I’m so looking forward to when I figure out what I want to be when I grow up, but damn that Navy experience sure comes in handy quite often!
in which i confuse rant?
Ok. so I need to write this down before I let this stew.
1st, Definitely put all that shit on your eval! 2nd, deep breaths. It can be overwhelming but remember to take care of yourself!
3rd, definitely start an overall work resume for life and start putting all that on there too, you’re a rock star! Good job adulting!
Mattis told sailors they would experience the best and worst life has to offer while in the Navy, a sign they are living life to the fullest.
In case anyone needs a Mattis pep talk on why you should join the Navy.
I highly recommend these for deployment, when you’re chilling in berthing not wearing your shiny boots.
