….finally walk to grigg’s preserve in the deep dusk. Follow the dark railroad tracks home with bats gliding in the sliver of sky overhead and the fireflies pulsing. Be rescued in the dark, then fall asleep to heat lighting over deer isle.

….hike a mountain in the sunshine with the Boston skyline glittering three states away.

It turns out that if you sneak into a campsite at nearly midnight, and creep to the parking lot at 730, and time everything juuuuust right….you can bypass both camping and day use fees. I love the state parks, but sometime you just got to let a poor girl go for a hike.

…experience the first moon expedition in 50 years.

Maybe this one wasn’t entirely free because my tax dollars helped pay for it, but damn I’m glad they did! We are all living together on this big beautiful marble, and there something to be said for walking around Costco with a strawberry smoothie, watching a live-stream of astronauts make their splash landing home.
