guys, just a kind of PSA.. im from a little small town in Missouri. I currently go to school in a small city here called Cape Girardeau. Over the past week there have been mass quantities of pre-paid cell phones bought (up to 70-80 at a time) in different cities all through the state. These cities include Jefferson City (the state Capitol), Columbia (a large college town), Macon, Ava, Lebanon (all three of which are by a large power source for Missouri), and last but not least, my college town of Cape G. There have also been reports of strange men walking through the woods on private property in more rural parts of the state, including my home town of only 1,200 people. After the recent events of Paris, San Bernadino, and Arkansas State University, I ask that you please send your thoughts and prayers to us. Although I may be letting this get to my head, I canât help but proceed with caution and hesitancy in the upcoming weeks and maybe even months.
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but what is the significance of pre-paid cell phones? I go to asu, & Iâve been trying to keep up with things more intently.
they're not really trackable because they're not through a company and they can't be linked to a specific person. so if someone were texting or calling someone else on a prepaid phone about an attack or something, no one would know who those people were or what they're really talking about because the phones aren't in a persons name and there's not a company database to pull up the text messages from. so it's significantly harder to get a suspect and figure out what they're planning.
