Probably last post for a while; everything is going into storage for a move. Short distance move, prolonged duration move. This is a fairly big butternut cutting board made from a salvaged fallen down butternut. Considering the tools I have, I was pretty pleased with how square and flat it ended up being! For fun I did a mortise and tenon along both those end pieces. This one gave me a hard time; I almost scrapped it but decided to see it through. Decent size chunk of cherry, was going well, but cracked while drying. Then I decided to fill the cracks with an “accent” color, but I don’t really like the color that much, and some of the blue ran and soaked into the wood. Maple Burl Bowl and Plate. Made the bowl, about 9” outside diameter. Ended up with some extra and turned a plate with a small recessed handle so it can rest as a lid too, but doesn’t have a good seal as a true lid. Bigger Snowman Ornaments

I believe this is the last of my Christmas specific wood crafting leading up to Christmas 2020. This was actually the first attempt at Snowman ornaments. Used some unknown hardwood for 2 of them (Oak?) and Maple for the 3rd. Each of them has a Cherry hat. For these, I just glued a block of cherry to a block of lighter colored hardwood and turned them as one piece. Small variations in body style, 3 different hat styles. Unfortunately, as you can see from the last picture, they were as big as my hand which meant WAY to heavy to really hang on a tree well.
