She smiled a little.
“You’re right. He was a jerk and I am so over him. Come to speak of it, I know guys who are cuter and would treat me so much better than him.”
“There you go.” Thomas tried to smile when she mentioned other guys but failed. “You’ll find someone who’ll treat you the way you deserve. I know it’s cliche but it’s the truth.”
“You say that but I don’t buy it. You know I’m right, subconsciously.”
“I don’t have a subconscious.”

“Asher Pierce.”
She sat down and bit her lip.
“He was a flirt. And I fell for it. He had those dreamy eyes and he drove me crazy. Turns out he was cheating on me. With multiple girls. But I thought he loved me. Fat load of shit that was.”
A small tear rolled down her cheek. Another followed. She wiped them away quickly, hoping he hadn’t noticed.
“You’ve got to be joking.” Thomas exclaimed. “That little fuck. I’m going to kill him the moment I see him.” How could anyone -boyfriend or not- treat someone as amazing as December like that?
“Don’t...” Thomas didn’t know what to do. He wanted to wipe her tears but he was afraid that would be too forward. “He’s not worth it.”

“Some other people were around. There was a guy, but he treated be like shit. Used me. You would have beaten him up in like five seconds flat.”
She laughed, imagining what would happen if Thomas and her ex boyfriend met.
“I went out a bit. I went to a few parties and made some friends. That was the only good thing about being away from here. The freedom.”
Thomas felt his heart clench with anger. “Who was he? What did he do?” He blurted out. He wasn’t sure if he wanted to know but he knew he had to.
“You’re free here. The rules never stopped you.” He joked, trying to lighten up the mood.

“My dear old mama pulled me out of school and I was forced to have absolute shit lessons from my dad. Remember this, he cannot teach. At all. I begged and begged to come back and I won. And now here I am, glad to see everyone.”
More than glad to see Thomas though.
“You always do.” Thomas commented with a smirk. “Good to have you back, Carrow.”
“Though I don’t believe for one second that all you’ve done for the past two years was stay at home and deal with your parents.” He wanted to know more. Was she alright? Had she met someone? Not that it mattered, he was in a relationship which he had to constantly remind himself now that December was back.
And why exactly would you want to do something as stupid that?
As stupid as it may be, I actually like being around you.

“That’s good. I’m sorry I didn’t write. I didn’t really want to. I hated being away from everyone. Away from you. Writing to everyone would have made it ten times worse.”
She looked down, feeling extremely guilty.
It would be a lie to say Thomas wasn’t heartbroken when he didn’t hear from he while she was away but he wasn’t going to use that against her. “No, it’s okay. I get it.”
“You can tell me now. Come on, a quick recap of the crazy shit that happened in the last few years.”
“Ha. Why would I when I have you? Who could say no to this face? Really?” She smirked before taking another cigarette out of his pack and placing it behind her ear.

“I missed you too.” She smiled. One of the rare times she did.
It was true. She missed him more than she could say. She knew the feeling of her heart pounding faster and butterflies rushing into her stomach.
“So, how’s things? Anything crazy happen while I was gone?”
Once they were parted, Thomas immediately missed her warmth. “Define crazy.” He let out a nervous chuckle as they took a seat on the couch.
“Same old, same old. People constantly humping others. You know drama never dies in this place. There’s always someone cheating on others or talking shit but nothing too serious happened.”

“Well, my parents can’t really home school that well. I haven’t seen you in so long!” She put her book down, quickly standing up.
She left Hogwarts in her 5th year because her parents felt that that the teachers were rubbish. But they weren’t any better. She finally managed to come back for her last year, but hadn’t banked on seeing Thomas so soon.
Without saying anything else Thomas pulled her into a hug, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her closer. God, how was it possible that she still smelt the same? Felt the same?
“I’m glad they suck.” He whispered as he slowly pulled away to get a better look at her. “I missed you.”

December sat in the Slytherin common room, book in hand. She had had the worst day. So much homework, at least two detentions for wearing lip gloss and the worst Quidditch try outs ever. It’s a miracle she’s still alive.
She began to read up on translating runes, when she heard someone call her name. She knew that voice all too well. Her heart skipped a beat and she looked up to see Thomas Wood, standing right in front of her.

After a long day of classes, all Thomas wanted to do was to curl up in his bed and just rest. As usual he found his way to the dungeons and then to the common room where he was greeted by an unexpected guest.
The moment he saw her all sorts of different emotions rushed through him. He couldn’t believe his eyes. Her head was in a book but there was no doubt it was her. “December?” He walked up to her. “I- wow. Didn’t know you were back in school.” He finally managed to say, he was lost for words.
