Some people say home is where you come from. But I think it’s a place you need to find, like it’s scattered and you pick pieces of it up along the way.

I used to be alone and lonely. (The difference being that I liked doing things independently, but not laying awake at night feeling like no one in the world understood a thing I’d ever said).Â
I met her, and I wasn’t lonely. But being alone was harder now.

I think the hardest thing for me is honesty. I don’t want to shift blame, but I have and I believe society has been conditioned to tell half-truths and whatever makes us appear most in control and strong. We do this for so long that the truth becomes blurred in our minds. It becomes next to impossible to force ourselves just to be honest about our own feelings, just with ourselves. I wonder how much of what I think every day is a lie.
If it’s this hard to be honest with ourselves, it’s no small wonder that we aren’t honest with others. We’re so afraid of saying the wrong thing that we become the wrong thing. We walk around on eggshells trying not to offend anyone or be unsympathetic, but in reality that makes it worse. We are unsympathetic creatures who only care for ourselves and pretend to have love for others – just so we aren’t alone. Because if we’re alone, we have to face ourselves. We may have to be honest with ourselves...
...This is why we have all of these problems in our world. We are afraid to be honest about how we feel, because what if someone disagrees? What if they can shake our worldview? So let’s keep it inside. Fear of the unknown keeps us in bondage, but it’s okay because it’s easier to be in bondage than to face whatever’s out there. We spend our whole lives trying to suffocate the truth under a comfortable blanket of lies.      Â
I suppose the moment things change then, is when we decide to capture a thought that we think – that we automatically think and take for granted, and say, “Do I really believe this?” At the core of our beings, we know. We know the truth.Â
