Introductions to Project S

will be using the tag #saronsters. more than a decade of work poured into an imaginary civilization (intensive worldbuilding posts will be common). simply for fun :) my notes will be posted as I work, trying to go for consistency in lore but retconning stuff as I develop it is part of the process

SARONSTERS- MY ORIGINAL ALIEN SPECIES

Okay so Saronsters, they’re dragon-ish and most have a centaur-like body structure, but not all of them all the time. The race of people known as Saronsters is actually made up of many different species of Saronster that share a common ancestor from which each modern category speciated from. Kind of like how all the Eevee-loutions are somewhat similar in body structure and general appearance because they all started as Eevee, but they’re still genetically distinct.

Some things that all the Saronsters share:

A homeworld, named Olorba, that is a planet roughly the size of earth if a bit smaller but far less dense because its mantle is primarily aluminum instead of iron, which is lighter. The reason the core continues to function is because the outer core is very iron and nickel rich like earths and the inner core is comprised of a lot of heavy radioactive metals that make a sort of internal nuclear furnace that keeps the planet thermally alive.

Certain body characteristics, such as the fact that they have four sexes instead of two. A lot of animals on their world also follow this pattern, with maybe plants and a few extremist outliers as exceptions. Because of this, there’s no such thing as gender to them but thats for a lot of reasons ill get to in a minute.

A common government. The modern government is complex to explain without my notes but they do have an organized government for their whole collective, no split countries.

They live for ridiculously long amounts of time. There’s a biological reason for this, and the notes on that are coming in another reblog, but they can live for like a couple thousand years apiece.

Those are the basics of the basics, and from here on out most of the written lore is in the form of wiki-style notes I’ve typed up. Some of the first stuff I tackled was biology and gender, and so added onto this reblog is the first set of biology notes I wrote.

Saronsterian Culture: International Relations, M.I.L.O., and War

First, some meta notes. In this universe, there is an intergalactic council of spacefaring nations similar to the UN or NATO. This is simply referred to as the Intergalactic Council. Earth is not a part of this council because it is not a unified nation or a unified species, in addition to not being fully spacefaring. Earth in this universe is not aware of aliens or saronsters or the Council as a whole, but some head officials in most world nations are aware of the Council and aliens to some degree. This is not touched on much in my lore because my lore focuses on saronsters primarily. Maybe once I have saronsters as a species finished, I can expand the universal lore. Let us continue on with the in-universe notes.

Because Earth is not a member of the Council, it is considered neutral ground and its nations are also considered neutral. No nations on the Council are allowed to make contact with Earth or any Earth-based nations, organizations, species, transmissions, et cetera (this is not a comprehensive list of banned things). The Saronsterian Collective is also not a part of the Council, and is technically neutral as well. The Collective is thus not subject to Council definitions of wartime accords and etiquette, or, in other words, the Collective does not recognize any actions as war crimes. Because saronsters and the Saronsterian Collective predate the Council by several hundred thousand years, combined with how well established saronsters are as a Collective, any efforts made by Council members to bring the Saronsterian Collective into the Council have been squashed or flat-out ignored by the leaders of the Collective. Saronsterian leaders have simply responded to this by saying that they, quote, “can’t be bothered”.

This brings us to two branching parts of international relations with saronsters and other nations: war and collaborative efforts. We will start with war.

In saronsterian culture, there are not and have never been any rules of war. Anything whatsoever goes. War is always about winning as fast and as effectively as possible. As long as you win, it’s a valid war tactic. This means two main things for saronsterian history: One, they did not have many official wars because of the devastation it would cause, and not many issues are worth that cost. Two, the wars they did have were the most horrific and bloody conflicts across all universal history recorded. The Collective has not been at war since the Great Shaking of the World (massive civil war inciting complete and utter reform of almost every single aspect of life in the Collective), and there are not even living grandchildren of saronsters who were alive during the Great Shaking.

The protocols for officially-declared wartime in the Collective are terrifying in their simplicity, even though the Saronsterian Collective does not have a standing military. As a nation, saronsters almost refuse to declare war first, but if the Collective is ever invaded or attacked then the Collective automatically declares war upon the offending nation(s). Once it is officially a time of war, the following statutes which were revised from pre-Shaking laws after the Great Shaking go into effect (these are summarized bullet points, not the official document):

Any citizen is free to retaliate to the enemy nation in any way they see fit. This includes but is not limited to: individuals or groups invading enemy planets, individuals  or groups killing enemy citizens or military, individuals or groups bombing or destroying enemy structures, individuals or groups bombing or destroying neutral parties on enemy territory, individuals rallying together their communities into ad hoc regiments, individuals or groups creating weaponry or devices such as explosives, individuals or groups making use of biological or chemical warfare, and individual or group terrorism upon enemy nations.

Every citizen is responsible for their own defense. The government does release weaponry, materials, and instructions for creating weaponry and wartime devices to anyone who requests them, but this requires organization and a way to distribute, so it takes a while. Priority for distribution goes to those living on the fringes of Collective territory and volunteers who offer to patrol these fringe territories. These volunteers are also given transport to these locations if needed, but personal transportation is preferred so that the government distribution can run smoother.

(Author’s note: this last bullet point may seem like a tactic that weakens the fighting power of the Collective in comparison to a nation with an organized military, but remember: saronsters are a communal species. Towns, villages, and cities are comprised of many large families- fighting and dying for strangers may be difficult for someone to care about, but if those people are family and friends, it is much easier to put yourself in the line of fire. Also remember that saronsters have a much looser culture around killing, death, and violence than most other species. Additionally, they are a very pragmatic people, and find very effective and creative ways to end conflicts as quickly as possible. The amount of carnage in these methods is a side statistic.)

The national healthcare system will prioritize urgent care for those wounded in the war conflict, and any citizen can assist with emergency operations (typically front-lines only) under the approval of a licensed physician, given that this citizen agrees to work under the physician’s rules and follow whatever protocols are required for the operations.

No actions committed against the enemy (during a nationally-issued state of official wartime) by Collective citizens are subject to any legal repercussions under Collective law.

Because of these statutes, which are public intergalactic record, not a single nation has declared war upon the Saronsterian Collective since their conception.

The second branch of international relations involving the Saronsterian Collective and the other nations of the universe is about collaborative efforts. There is only one international organization that the Saronsterian Collective AND the Intergalactic Council have a hand in- M.I.L.O., or the Multispecies Intergalactic Labs of Olorba. Its headquarters are on Collective territory (Olorba), but human scientists who emigrated to take part in intergalactic affairs spearheaded the entire operation. M.I.L.O. is officially a neutral party, and its infrastructure and organization resemble an independent nation more than anything else. Members of the Intergalactic Council are allowed as members of M.I.L.O., but M.I.L.O. activities are not subject to Council law. Citizens of the Collective are also allowed as members of M.I.L.O., but M.I.L.O. activities are also not subject to Collective law.

M.I.L.O. is a massive scientific collaboration intended solely for the advancement of sciences and gathering information about the universe. The pursuit of knowledge is one of the keystones of saronsterian culture, which is an aspect they share with humanity. Dr. Barnes is in charge of M.I.L.O. currently, despite the fact that his title is technically as an underling to Jhol-Gur, a saronsterian scientist who is officially in charge- and the only difference is that Jhol-Gur does all of the paperwork and international relations. Jhol-Gur has reportedly stated to enjoy their position, because quote:

“Dr. Barnes is the visible face of M.I.L.O., therefore he is the one who gets blamed for everything. I get a relatively quiet desk job, and Barnes gets to explain to the Board of Directors why the entire Intergalactic Council wants him dead for his crimes. It’s an arrangement I like very much.”

Dr. Barnes was not available for comment, as he was occupied with a very large Tesla coil, a Faraday cage suit, and several high doses of psilocybin.
