Thought for the Feeble Minded

I sit in disdain as this man proceeded to leave the doctors office upset after an interview segment on the news with Ciciley Tyson speaking on diversity in Hollywood. In the midst of the segment he continuously glared at me as if I was suppose to be as uncomfortable as he was about the topic, but truth of the matter is, if you're not racist nor discriminate, the discussion of topics like that wouldn't and shouldn't make you uncomfortable......I am aware that not everyone shares this destructive way of thinking, but it's sad to have to accept that there are still feeble minded people that still can't handle African Americans can be just as good at anything, if not better. My goal, among others, is making sure I am a succesful asset to my African American community by pushing forward in my educational and occupational endeavors and pushing pass the stagnant minds of oppressors; Apparently we still have some hurtles to leap over.

I sincerely hope that everyone complaining and posting statuses about the foolishness surrounding Donald Trump plan on voting. It’s such a waste of intellect to go on these rants about him to turn around and not vote.

Honestly, I have gained a new outlook on the mindset of Americans as a whole. Trump has made this election as well as this country into a mockery and it’s sad that America has even allowed things to go this far, but who am I but a college student trying to make it through the struggle; I don’t know any better.

Something to keep us busy Something to poke at our souls Something to make us let go

Art may not always be pretty

Sometimes it is truth and nothing more The things we dare not say aloud It is our fighting ground

Art will not always feel good

Sometimes it is the prison That keeps us outside of ourselves Displaying our secrets on the shelves

Art cannot always be comfortable

But I’d rather have something Grounding me to my soul And I’d rather die in a prison of truth Than to be someone I would rather not know
