Ma'am do you have any comment on the reports that the Trainer School on Melemele is haunted?
"Well I refuse to confirm or deny that it's haunted, though I assure you it's for a very good reason- I'd hate to ruin any fun."
"From the sound of it, students from Kanto and Johto shared stories about their previous schools' Seven Mysteries with their friends. The Alolan students liked it so much, they started making their own mysteries around school."
"I will say that once a ghost story becomes popular, it tends to take on a life of its own. Though whether that involves actual ghosts or confirmation bias, I'll leave that up to you~"

"Oh my goodness, is that an Absol?" the woman in purple proclaimed, unable to contain her surprise- and delight. "I haven't seen one of those in an age! How auspicious~!"
Kei didn't comment on the sentimental moment, as it was clearly a powerful emotion between the two friends. "I can't say I'm surprised. Good stories travel past boarders and seas with ease. But that probably explains why the old stories have a talisman with the Absol drawn on it, instead of an Absol itself."
"Having an Absol talisman was said to help keep away disaster, as well as spirits- so maybe at one point someone knew Absol was a dark type? I don't know for sure, but that's why stories are so wonderful~ We can at least say that someone was saved by an Absol's warning; and in their gratitude, that someone told other people about Absol protecting them. And though the story changed, that memory was carried on."

When they finally made it to Kei's house, there was someone waiting for them...

"Oh my goodness, is that an Absol?" the woman in purple proclaimed, unable to contain her surprise- and delight. "I haven't seen one of those in an age! How auspicious~!"
"I'm here because I'm a storyteller." Kei explained. "I call myself a scholar as that holds more weight in our world of academics. But in truth, I collect stories so as to better understand the world we live in."
"Which is why I can tell you in confidence; the 'bad rap' Absol has had to fight against is comparably 'modern' by historic standards. Within the last 100 to 200 years." She then smiled warmly, happy to share this information. "Whereas over 300 years ago, many people considered Absol good luck."
"At least in Kanto," she added.
Ms. Scholar, is there a connection to the pokedex's assertions that every Yamask used to be a person and their masks are their old faces and ghost pokemon taking shiny death masks from burial sites
"How to explain this...
"Hm.... It's sort of like saying 'every pointy rock is an arrow head'..." The hexe scholar paused to consider her analogy and nodded to herself. "Yes that works because both are often mistaken for things found naturally, and the only way to tell them apart is by the detailed work of humans."
"Like most ghost types, they actually do reproduce like regular pokemon- they've never been human. The way you can tell you do have a yamask that was human, is that the mask it is holding will be a unique shape. This type of mask is generally influenced by how the past person looked or the funeral practices from the era it died."
Example:
"That being said, whether or not these once human yamasks are actually holding funerary objects or a manifestation of their former selfs, is it's own kettle of fish..."
7 am and looking up the history of burial shrouds and deciphering how that correlates to depictions of ghosts- just an average day for our hex scholar

After hearing someone had upset Hau; the preteen girls offered their support in the best way they knew how- yummy food. "What would you like?" they kindly demanded.
"Ahh-- It's alright!" They smile, trying to calm the three down a bit. He feels like they won't back down until he picks something, though. "...How about we get some ice cream, then?"
"Ice cream it is!" was the clearest reply. The trio held onto Hau's arms, while one led the charge to the ice cream shop.

Kisara paused attention drawn to the woman unable to stop a smile,
"Sure is." She gave her Absol a gentle pat on the head, "They're usually pretty solitary Pokemon and can be pretty elusive when they want to be."
"Of course! Usually humans only got to see an Absol when it came out to warn people when something bad was about to happen. Absols' kindness saved many lives- at least in legends." Kei's scholarly side forced her to add the last bit; as some might not accept the blurring between history and stories as fact.
She continued, "which is why it's always a treat to see an Absol and their trainer~"

Hau defense squad activated!
"Ghetsis is the sort of leader to misunderstand an ominous prophecy. He'd get told by an oracle 'When you not longer see what's right, and all you hold is sinister; you will be brought down by the true king of Unova'. And then in trying to avoid his fate; he'd run head first into it, like a cartoon coyote chasing a roadrunner."
Unsurprisingly, Kei's thoughts on certain figures still boiled down to stories.
Bee carefully paid attention to everything 'Dorm mom" was showing her. Slowly nodding her head. Hearing her mistake and the disaster of pancakes were not going to go to waste made her feel a bit better.
"I should have asked for help ealier, Im sorry"
"Don't be sorry. I appreciate you wanting to help out."
"Besides, sometimes the best way to learn is first failing at it- trust me, that's how I learned most my cooking."
