Carrie Underwood’s Biggest Hot 100 Hits
Happy Birthday to the Queen of Country Music, Carrie Underwood!
2017 Forecasts
Three Chords makes three predictions for 2017. These predictions are what to look forward to this year. The 2017 Forecasts are all album’s rumoured to be released this year, which we are super excited about and cannot wait to hear! Read more about which three albums we believe are going to smash it out of the park below.
Melanie Dyer’s debut album.
Australian country-pop artist, Melanie Dyer is set to release her debut album later this year. If her latest single ‘Fresh’ is anything to go by, we predict the singer-songwriter will have a killer debut album, and we just can’t wait to hear it!
Kelsea Ballerini’s sophomore album.
Kelsea Ballerini has been working hard on her sophomore album since the release of her debut record, ‘The First Time’. ‘The First Time’ was an amazing album, with three number one singles and the last single of the album ‘Yeah Boy’ still making its way through the charts. From what we have heard, this album will be a lot more mature and cement her place in country music. People that have doubted her before, will proven wrong as Kelsea Ballerini will produce a sophomore album Three Chords predicts will be number one.
Germein Sister’s sophomore album
The South Australian sisters are planning to release a follow up album, after releasing ‘Because You Breathe’ in 2015. The Germein Sisters have been pleasing lucky fans by playing a few new tunes at recent gigs, including their latest single ‘100 Years’. The new tracks that will hopefully feature on the upcoming album are some of the sister best work to date.
On The Rise
Melanie Dyer
Country-pop artist Melanie Dyer is keeping it ‘Fresh’ with her latest single. Melanie’s song ‘Fresh’ is currently climbing the charts in Australia, already reaching the Top 10 on KIX FM. Following her debut EP, ‘Lifetime’, Melanie Dyer is set to release her first album later this year. After hearing a few songs from the awaited album, we are sure it will be a hit!
Mae Valley
Mae Valley are a dynamic country duo from New Zealand, made up of Abby Christodoulou and Hannah Cosgrove . After forming on New Zealand’s X Factor, the girls released their self-titled debut EP last year. Abby and Hannah are currently working hard on their sophomore effort with plans to release something later this year.
Rachael Fahim
Rachael Fahim was recently crowned the Toyota Star Maker winner of 2017. Performing a cover of Dolly Parton’s Jolene and an original song Confetti, Rachael took out the title at the 2017 Tamworth Country Music Festival. Confetti is set to be her next single and is co-written with our other ‘On The Rise’ artist, Melanie Dyer.
Happy International Women’s Day!
Lauren Alaina is the definition of a strong woman! After overcoming all that she has, Lauren released on hell of an album earlier this year, Road Less Traveled.
Congratulations girl!
Nikita Karmen - EP
A marvellous self-titled debut EP by Sydney singer-songwriter Nikita Karmen.
We review each track below.
First - This catchy song will make it hard not to sing along with such clever lyrics. Our favourite line: ‘She's wearing that trendy Tom Petty t-shirt, I’ll stop being petty about your American girl.’
Warned Me - On the more upbeat track of the EP, Nikita Karmen sings about how she wished she was warned about those ever so charming and handsome heartbreakers, aka, the bad boys. We're sort of glad that no one warned her though... only because then we may have never got this song, where she makes us aware to the fact that ‘an ugly heart can still have a pretty face.’
Curfew - Our favourite track, this ballad is by the far the best song of the EP. We don’t know what else to say about it because it is just so good! So we will just let the song do all the talking.
Love in a Thrift Shop - In this light uptempo song, Nikita Karmen reminds us that ‘there is nothing you can’t find if you want it.’ A quirky song, Nikita Karmen will have you singing along. One line from the song also relates to the EP as ‘something here for everyone’ on this brilliant self-titled debut EP.
Nobody with Me - A bittersweet song to close the EP, Nikita Karmen tries to encourage someone she loves and incredibly misses to go out and make something of themselves, but at the same time reminds them that they can ‘come back home and be nobody with (her) because (they’re) always somebody to (her).’
Spotlight Artist - Nikita Karmen
Today at Three Chords we are shining the spotlight on Sydney singer-songwriter Nikita Karmen.
This talented lady released her first EP in early February after landing in Nashville in 2015. If you haven’t heard it yet, we highly suggest you put those headphones on and enjoy the masterpiece.

All Our Exes Live In Texas - When We Fall
New Album Alert!!!
This Sydney quartet are so damn talented it’s nearly annoying. I mean, where do I start?! The harmonies are so amazing and the songwriting is on another level. But I guess that is what you get when four brilliant singer-songwriters with beautiful voices intertwine to make one hell of a debut album.
Make sure you pay attention to those emotional lyrics to fully appreciate this album and get the most out of it. Yes, the arrangements and harmonies are so distractingly good but the deeply emotional storytelling is what makes this album so impressive.
Standout Track
The Devil’s Part - Opening the album, this dark song is definitely one of my favourites on the album.
Most Relatable Track
Boundary Road - ‘What if I wanna be the one to fall apart once in a while’
So Who Or What Is Three Chords You Ask?
Well, here at Three Chords we love music, and we just want to share that love with y’all. We will be posting everything music. From what’s new to those old great classics you can’t stop listening to. From talented songwriters to new breaking artists. From the artists behind the music to the stories behind the songs. From the big arena concerts to the small gigs at a little pub. Everything from our music library, including the stuff we just can’t stop listening to, and those songs we may be a little embarrassed to admit we love (we call them our guilty pleasures). No shame here though, just love and appreciation for putting all those emotions into a three minute song.
So basically to sum it up... Three Chords is here for the love of music.
