Mod 4. Project

With our world being in a pandemic, and my friends and family isolated from each other in quarantine, I’ve had a lot of time to think. This project was really difficult for me to choose because I really wanted to embody something that expressed how I have been feeling and at the same time spoke to the difficult times we are all living in. Particularly, I’ve come to realize that happiness is all very subjective and can still be found in hard/trying times like these. The last line stuck with me and I think probably stuck with many people. No chorus could come in about two people, sitting doing nothing... or can it?

Mod. 4 Reading Response

Postmodernism is a general idea/concept from the mid to late 20th century. Ideas and modes of art, literature, photography, philosophy, etc. are based around themes of postmodernism. Postmodernism focuses on ideas or concepts of objective reality, reason/logic, truth and morality.

Mod.3 Reading Response

Performance is a way of animating the many formal and canceptua ideas of which the making of art is based. Performance raises questions about art and its history. With its history, rising and decreasing in popularity through time, performance art is becoming more relevant and has really shaped society politically and socially over time. Performance art can be anything from poetry, a film, or even music. Though, with performance art there is a distinct relationship with the performer and their audience. The audience’s relationship with the performer is what makes the performance impactful and carry the aspect of entertainment.

Mod.2 Reading Response

Rewritten summary from previously module 2, reading response, which was lost.

“Projection is the medium of perspective in all its forms, and of cartography.” When I read that, my mind expanded in thoughts of what projection really is. Sean Cubitt’s perspective in his writing really makes you think about how you see projection versus how others might see it. Essentially it is different for everyone. I really liked how he ended the reading by saying that the relationship is mysterious and unknown along with the outcome. I feel like the ending of the reading about motion and time was similar to this when they referred to how an artist creates their image. “They decided whether to make their work a narrative”

My gifs are inspired by the otherworldly and the visually stimulating. I took excerpts from various music videos that I was drawn to for the visuals and for the uniquely odd. Some themes throughout my gifs are stars, fast and slow movements, and image alteration. After compiling these I came to realize that sometimes videos, gifs, or music can help us escape the reality of the real world by slipping into a reality of fiction or fantasy.

My gifs are inspired by the otherworldly and the visually stimulating. I took excerpts from various music videos that I was drawn to for the visuals and for the uniquely odd. Some themes throughout my gifs are stars, fast and slow movements, and image alteration. After compiling these I came to realize that sometimes videos, gifs, or music can help us escape the reality of the real world by slipping into a reality of fiction or fantasy.
