What would Corvus think. Everyone asks that question. As if she should answer to him for everything! Vesper could throw a tantrum but she isn't that type. She is a misery on two legs who had a fleeting bout of happiness. Until she committed the worst betrayal she finally found out what it was like. Nothing lasts forever but this craving does.
She could tell this Saint Ramirez that she needed it to live but he would laugh in her face. It's so hard to stop. She did once. Once and then she fell right back to lay with her demon.
"Nothing is wise to do behind his back but I have before. Yet I'm still alive," a casual comment on her life could never sound as bleak as that. She just realizes she could have met a worse fate when he found out. "I suppose I should be thankful. Is that what you mean, Mr. Ramirez?" Surely her husband has not told him exactly what went wrong with them. Even now Vesper is counting down to the day Corvus decides she is no longer worth keeping around. The day she winds up dead like her first husband once threatened.
"Do you even know what it is to deal with -" What do you deal with, Vesp? An addiction? Do you want to admit it's that? First steps and all that right? "This life isn't kind to me anymore. Leave me alone. I don't want your damn juice or anything to eat."
