Alexius Corvinus | Master | 25/1254 | Vampire - Demon/Ghoul | Versatile
May the bridges I burn light the way.
To know the name Corvinus one would have to first look to the patriarch of the family. Mikael Corvinus was a man driven by power and respect. He declared himself to be of royal blood, and while he could never prove it, anyone that discredited him would meet the weight of his wealth or wrath. However even the most well-constructed lie can only last for so long before someone found its weak points. When the validity of his claim was tested his peers mocked him to no end when he had no solid proof to confirm his claim. And for a time Mikael became the joke of their kingdom from those who took pleasure in his embarrassment. Alexius never cared much for the claim or whether he truly came from royal blood. The youngest of four older brothers he was never one to stand out among his family. Just another number among their ranks. He almost found it amusing that his father would go to such lengths just to prove himself superior to others for whatever reason he was driven to. But his point of view quickly changed when he saw how maddening his father had become by the embarrassment. Often leaving their home from time to time with no word to where he would travel. Then one night his father returned with some great news. He had found a way to prove himself above all others around him. And without their permission he decided to share this gift with his family through an exchange of his vampire blood.
Alexius, his siblings and mother were turned into vampires against their will. And when they woke to this new life their bloodlust was so strong that they slaughtered every family that had ever laughed at their father’s name. Claiming the fallen’s wealth for his own Mikael quickly built an empire and name for himself among the vampires. No easy task for a newborn but he proved his value to those that mattered under the banner of his maker’s name. All the member of his family took to the life of a vampire with ease while Alexius longed for the days he could feel his heart beating in his chest. He hated the thought of being immortal just as much as he did the act of drinking blood but this was his life now. When the first war with the humans came the Corvinus family was at the forefront, minus Alexius who stood behind. Never driven by fighting where instead he would prefer the stroke of a paint brush rather than a sword. Towards the end it was clear that the vampires would win over their lesser. But Mikael made one grave mistake that left his sons in danger of a trap set by the humans that would see three of his sons meet their end in ash.
It was never clear if Mikael was more broken by the loss of his heirs or the fact he was once again embarrassed to stand among his peers. Alexius was there to witness his father fall into the same habit of leaving their domain to seek out answers to regain the power he lost. As the one son he had left was not one he felt could carry their name far. It was when the second war began that his madness really took shape. The joke that Alexius would probably be killed on the battlefield by one of their own who mistook him for a frail Fae caused him to take drastic measure for power. Once again Alexius was forced against his will to be a pawn in his father’s designs. Enlisting the service of a powerful coven they worked to summon a demon to aid his call and bind with his son. No easy task that took many rituals to prepare the boy that often left Alexius wishing for death rather than live through another process. His father ignored his cries and his mother turned a blind eye to what was being done to their son. When the process finally bore fruit, a demon rose and latched itself to the broken boy. An entity of pure malice he did not take over Alexius but instead melded with his hatred and need for vengeance against those who subjected him to this fate. In a fury of his new power Alexius slew his parents and half of the coven that made him this way. His father getting what he wished for by witnessing his son’s power right before he too met the same fate as the sons he lost.
Consumed by this new overwhelming power Alexius was lost. He could no longer be the artist at heart he wished to be, the darkness was too seeped into his soul to allow him to make anything of beauty again. And he had little faith that if he was let out unto the battlefield that he wouldn’t slaughter anyone, ally or foe, if they stood in his way. So the newly crafted hybrid retreated into the castle that was home along with the remaining members of the coven he slaughtered. Word had spread of what befell his father and his plans but no one outside of the wall really knew what became of the vampire ‘prince’ as he took tutelage under the witches to learn the ways of control and dark magic. When next he would step out of the shadows he was clear to be changed from the immortal child he once was. What would be his purpose now? Would he fight for power like his father designed him? Would he seek out the council and offer his aid? Whatever the plan was his first step was towards the castle that so many of his kind had drawn to for pleasure. Surely even his dark soul could find something to entertain himself upon this new playground. But one would be wise not to be fooled by his angelic face. It is only masking the dark soul void of any light beneath his skin.
