I made a post a few days ago about how I think it was always quite obvious Blake and Yang were endgame, and some people got mad.

Look, if you don't ship them, I don't actually gaf. If you prefer Blake with Sun, I get it. That's fine. Yes, my phrasing was overgeneralizing but I stand by what I said. Because I wouldn't have said it if I didn't have reason to.

I just recently got into RWBY, and I love it. Now, I usually don't spoil stuff for myself, but for years I've been aware that Blake and Yang were the main couple, and I knew roughly about the plot of the show. So when I decided to actually watch it, I looked into it first. I wanted to see what people were saying. I checked out the Blake/Yang tag on a03 (I'm watching it for them. I love the show in general but I started it for bumbleby).

I almost didn't watch the show because of what I saw. Sure, there were some convos that criticized the writing and stayed respectful, there were some conversations from people who don't like Blake and Yang together that didn't veer into homophobic territory, but I saw too much negativity. And yes, I am spoiled. Pretty much every fandom I've ever been in is wildly accepting and progressive (and sapphic ship focused), so I'd never seen such negativity regarding a sapphic ship before, but its still horrible even if its more prevalent than I'd thought. I didn't want to be apart of a fandom that seemed to have so much bigotry.

And don't get me started on the ao3. I saw that Blake and Yang had a lot of fics. You can imagine my horror when I realized how many of them featured "lesbian breaking" themes (the word lesbian isn't typically what was used. It was the D slur).

I was maybe too broad in the way I expressed my opinion, and I think its fine to ship other ships. Blake is bi anyways. There's genuinely nothing wrong with that. But I said what I said for a reason, and I'm not crazy for it. What I saw was so jarring that I almost didn't start the show.

Jwct sapphic ships and the rings they would get one another:

Yaz and Sammy: Ok so. I think that Yaz proposes. Sammy mentioned once or twice that she's always liked ruby engagement rings, and Yaz tucked that info away quick. I think Yaz gets her a gold ring with a nice, but sensible sized ruby. Sammy loves it. It's beautiful, but simple and won't get in her way.

Sammy doesn't propose, but she would undoubtedly want Yaz to have an engagement ring as well. She'd get her gold as well, but she'd do a classic diamond. Again, a sensible and practical size. They'd both have oval cut rings. Yaz would insist that she doesn't need one, but still feel giddy as fuck the second Sammy slides it on her finger.

For the actual wedding rings, I think they'd do dainty plain gold bands with each others names inscribed on the inside.

But back to business.

Soyona is proposing. No doubt about it. Not a big, romantic affair. Honestly the way I envision it best would be Soyona and Brooklynn drinking wine out on the balcony, and Soyona slides a box across the table to Brooklynn. No words, but just a look in her eyes that tells Brooklynn exactly what she means by the gesture. I should note, I think it would happen about three days post Soyona accidentally on purpose asking Brooklynn to marry her during sex. Brooklynn's answer would simply be a nod and a smirk as she slides the box back to Soyona and holds out her hand (obviously, her right hand. They aren't putting the ring on her prosthetic) for Soyona to slide the ring on.

Anyways. It's a white gold, diamond encrusted 4 carat sapphire cushion cut ring. Soyona genuinely thought about going bigger, but knew anything beyond 4 carats just wouldn't be practical for Brooklynn. She also def thought about going for an emerald, but sapphires are more durable, so ultimately she picked that.

I think that in an au where they get married, Brooklynn wouldn't even be shocked by the size and novelty of her ring. She'd be used to it by that point.

Soyona wouldn't want or feel the need for an engagement ring, but for her own wedding ring, she'd get herself a white gold diamond encrusted band. She'd get Brooklynn the same exact one, just slightly more dainty so that it goes well with and doesn't distract from her engagement ring.
