With all the recent female vocalists coming up, I couldnāt help but throw it back to Brandy. This is one of my favorite songs by her and I was obsessed with this song in my middle school angst period. She captures that hurt, unrequited and desperation so well in her vocals and ad-libs. Its like she took all my feeling straight out of my heart and put it into a beautiful song. I dissolve into a puddle of nostalgia every time I hear this song so I welcome you to do the same.Ā
Trey Songz had a moment at the end of the 2000s transitioning to theĀ ā10s. This album was everything! Everything he released was so addictive! The first few seconds of this song with that twang melody and R&B beat has my heart fluttering and head bopping immediately.Ā I love his voice and this song gives me major throwback feelings. Take a moment out of your day to put this album on and immerse yourself in nostalgia. Youāre welcome.Ā
Remember them? They just had a reunion concert in Oakland this week and it was crazy the amount of people who showed up to experience a throwback into their teenage years. The boyband post the NāSync and BSB days as Puff Daddy or P Diddy tried to revive boy bands and girl groups during the hey day of Destinyās Child. Weāre also in the age of another boy band explosion so this felt like an appropriate throwback and tribute.Ā
Waaaayyy throwback into the early 2000s. This was around when Youtube was starting and people were uploading covers as well as original songs. If the internet was how it is now, Jeremy Passion would have had one of the best and viral song of that time. It was so original with sweet lyrics and his amazing voice tops it all off. This ukulele version does not do the original version justice but it still brings back all the feels especially on this rainy day and Iām going to need some hot lemonade for my cold.
Before bops there were slaps. This song definitely slapped back in 2008. I was a sophomore in college and absolutely obsessed with this song. The early use of a trap beat, the minimal staccato āIāmĀ Mikey and I-I-I rockā chorus, and the addictive West Coast style rapping. Highly recommend for those times when you are feeling yourself and throwing a stank face.Ā
