what does turkish delight taste like and is it worth the events that occurred in chronicle of narnia: the lion the witch and the wardrobe
So the first thing you must understand is that there are two basic types of Turkish delight. The first kind is what most people are familiar with, which are these gelatinous cubes covered in powdered sugar. They are, by most metrics, an acquired taste:
This is usually the stuff people try and say, “Yeah, I don’t get it, Edmund.” But if you go to a good Turkish confectioner (or just any of the bazillion stores that sell it in the Istanbul markets) you’ll see a second kind of Turkish delight, in a rolled shape:
This is the good stuff. The sell-your-soul-and-your-family stuff. It’s nutty and chewy and creamy and comes in all sorts of flavors, and I highly recommend it to anyone. (Especially hazelnut. It’s not a traditional flavor but I’m convinced the White Witch dipped into the future to get some for Edmund, it is that delicious.)
The second thing you need to understand is that the turkish delight was laced with mind-control drugs.
The third thing you need to understand is Edmond was living under WII sugar rationing
The fourth thing you need to understand, is that a child in WWII would quite likely think of Frys Turkish Delight (launched 1914) - which is covered in chocolate and a very different textural thing from the gelatinous cubes, plus chocolate for a child who wouldn't have had a lot of it, even pre-rationing.
We want the Government to repeal the Online Safety act.
I hate having to post political posts like this nut he we are again. Anybody from the UK wanna sign this. Folks from outside the UK maybe share it?
PLEASE sign this if you're in the UK
And in the meantime, many have recommended getting a VPN, too.
Non-UK folk, help this get more reach if you can!
This petition can be signed by both UK citizens AND UK residents. If you're a citizen and currently residing elsewhere, you can sign. If you live in the UK but aren't a citizen, you can also sign. And please do so if you can.
Also if you live in the UK contact your MP about this.

To those unfamiliar with manual transmissions: this is not a threat, this is a cold, hard declaration of fact. This will happen and there ain't a damn thing the driver can do about it if they wanted.
I mean, if you roll back in a hill start on a UK drving test you're marked down for it (and that could cumulate to a fail) and if you HIT someone else, you fail - and it's not terribly difficult to keep a vehicle you know at bite point (or use the handbrake and bring it slightly past bite before putting it off), but I know manual isn't as common in the US and maybe there's not the training there which would make it harder BUT either way, no one should be pulling in that close at any kind of junction - because if the car in front breaks down, you're fucked. Give yourself a bit of room so you're not trapped in with all the other cars pulled in too tightly behind you, and then you should be safe from random acts of rolling back and over exuberant window washers, too.
Reblog if you're okay with receiving asks for backstory info on any/all of your fics.
If not all, specify which ones in the tags.
Oh hey. I learned a bit of magic at the jewelry store that I’ve forgotten to share, please pass the blessing along.
Have you ever had a knot or tangle in a metal chain? Especially the very fine ones, it can be impossible to work them out with your fingers.
My friends, all you need is a thumbtack. In a pinch, a toothpick, needle, or any fine thin stick will do. I have never been defeated by a knot with a thumbtack in hand.
You stick the pointy end into the trickiest part of the knot and slowly just work it in. The knot loosens around it, and I’ve used this metaphor for acupuncture too because it’s the same principle to me.
But anyway, I’ve untangled chains women brought in that have been stuck multiple hellish kinks and knots for decades. It never fails to astonish them, and honestly it’s fun. Very tricky knots can take longer but it always works.
!!! This has been tangled for nearly a year, and in only half an hour with the tack it’s good as new.
Hell yeah!! Post has reached its target audience!
IT FUCKING WORKED YEAAAAAAAAAAAH THANK YOU SO MUCH
I used the back of a pin : D this had been tangled for two full years, I'm so happy I got it back :, )
Reblog to save a necklace.
Personally I am a fan of a safety pin, has a longer needle part and I almost always have on me. Been using 'em for years to untangle tiny metal chains for myself, family, and friends. :)
The Challenge: Comment on every fanfic you read and enjoy in the month of January.
Every chapter. Every one shot. Every drabble. Every ficlet. Whether it’s on a personal website, a blog, or an archive. Whether you’ve read it a hundred times before or you’re reading it for the first time. Whether the fic was posted years ago or minutes ago. Whether you sign your name or leave your thoughts anonymously. Whether your comment is paragraphs in length or a few short words. Comment on every fanfic you read and enjoy in the month of January.
The Philosophy: Comments are what keep a fandom thriving and growing.
We don’t see comments as a transaction. They’re not a price paid for reading a fic. We see comments as an interaction, a way of building relationships. Comments are a courtesy, not a currency. [x]
Fandom is a relationship between dozens, hundreds, thousands, maybe millions of fans, and the only way for the greater fandom relationship to function, is for those fans to interact. One way to interact is by writing and reading fanfic. A writer prompts an interaction by posting their work; it is up to the reader to then acknowledge (or not acknowledge).
As one of our favorite blogs, @ao3commentoftheday, said: [x]
“Comment if you can, but don’t be bullied or pressured into it. A comment should be written in the same spirit as the fic itself: wanting to reach out to other people who love the same fandom as you do. It’s not easy to do that, I know, and I don’t hold it against you at all if you can’t.”
The Only Rule: Be kind.
Be kind to your fandoms’ writers.
Please note that this challenge is to “comment on every fanfic you read and enjoy in the month of January.” As our fandom forebears were fond of saying, “Don’t like, don’t read.” For FaFiCoWriMo, we have taken that one step further by saying, “Don’t like, don’t comment.”
No matter how well-intentioned, critique is useless unless it comes from a place of trust. Unless you know an author personally and they have specifically asked for your critique, please keep it to yourself.
It costs zero of your currency and zero of your time to not be a jerk.
Be kind to yourself.
If you do find yourself unable to comment on every fic (for whatever reason), remember this: we forgive you, zero judgement. [x]
my earnest hope for 2025 is that everyone embraces being a little weirder and freakier and less judgmental bc we will all be better off for it like to charge reblog to cast
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Chapters: 15/15, 30,803 words Fandom: Bandom, My Chemical Romance Rating: General Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Characters: Frank Iero, Gerard Way, Mikey Way, Ray Toro, Brian Schechter Summary:
Frank is shipped off to a cold, isolated farm to be looked after between Christmas and his return to school. Maybe the skies will be clear enough for him to at least see some constellations, but it's a rotten way to spend the holidays, isn't it?
Then along comes a Polar Expedition and Frank thinks this might be fun after all.
Scenes of adventure, mild peril and, yes, some star gazing.

I apologize if you’ve been asked this question before I’m sure you have, but how do you feel about AI in writing? One of my teachers was “writing” stories using ChatGPT then was bragging about how good they were (they were not good) and said he was going to sell them. To put aside any legal concerns in that, I’m just trying to talk him down from that because, personally, I would not enjoy dream job being taken by AI.
The poor man.
Many magazines have closed their submission portals because people thought they could send in AI-written stories.
For years I would tell people who wanted to be writers that the only way to be a writer was to write your own stories because elves would not come in the night and do it for you.
With AI, drunk plagiaristic elves who cannot actually write and would not know an idea or a sentence if it bit their little elvish arses will actually turn up and write something unpublishable for you. This is not a good thing.
your life is not meaningless, you just haven't seen the sea in a while
Twenty years ago, February 15th, 2004, I got married for the first time.
It was twenty years earlier than I ever expected to.
To celebrate/comemorate the date, I'm sitting down to write out everything I remember as I remember it. No checking all the pictures I took or all the times I've written about this before. I'm not going to turn to my husband (of twenty years, how the f'ing hell) to remember a detail for me.
This is not a 100% accurate recounting of that first wild weekend in San Francisco. But it -is- a 100% accurate recounting of how I remember it today, twenty years after the fact.
Join me below, if you would.
Am I saying this will be your new favourite show? That it will make you smile and shiver and puzzle and delight? That it's something really special? That it will ease the pain of waiting for other shows to happen?
Yes. I am saying that.
It's SO good. And it starts in three weeks...
