Xmas came early this year! @wegotyouhookedup hooked us up! Thunderbird custom, tiger weave, all purpose, 25-40lbs, salt stick! These new sticker are free with orders over $10! We made these stickers to keep our packages safe at the same time bring awareness to fish handling practices. As stewards of our natural resources it’s important to know and improve our practices. I’ve learned a few things from this community that will undoubtedly improve the health of my releases. 3 tips we felt were the most essential for practicing C+R (catch and release). Check it out below and add what other tips you think are important for people to practice? 3 basics tips for new anglers: 1) Wet your hands before handling fish to maintain their protective slime. If the slime is damaged or removed the fish can be susceptible to diseases and infection. 2) use a soft rubber mesh or other fish friendly nets (avoid nylon nets with knots that can scrape the fish). Handling and hook removal will be easier and will help avoid having to resort to “the death grip” (squeezing the fish too hard). Also nets help you from dragging the fish onto land which can hurt them. 3) Although treble hooks and using bait are super effective ways to catch fish you plan to eat, they often result in gut hooking and more difficult releases. Single hook artificial lures are easier to remove, cause less damage on the fish and are less messy. Even better use barbless hooks or pinch down the barb and the fish will thank you for it.
