GLORIOUS GOODWOOD 29/07/15
Teak has had a lot of experience at running at these longer distances so there shouldn't be too many issues, as long as the ground stays Good. Similarly, Boite’s disappointing last run at Ascot can be put down to the tough Good-to-Firm ground, and the Good ground today should suit him much better.
Bohemian Rhapsody and Number One London both have an edge through recents wins at similar distances and ground, but the step up in trip could be their downfall.
Air Squadron has really shone through this year but again the step up to a Class 2 race may prove to be unfavourable to him. Likewise Wordiness, who has found his form this year with a recent hayrick of wins. However they all came from Good-to-Firm/Firm ground so he may find the ground too soft here.
Both William of Orange and See And Be Seen have yet to run at this distance but could be more than capable here today based on the former’s race last time out at York and the latter’s preference for longer distances.
This race should suit Scottish perfectly with a previous win at this distance and a win on Good ground, and the only potential drawback is the step up in trip.
Both Tommy Doc and Space Age should find no trouble with travelling this distance, however, their only wins have come from Good-to-Firm ground so it’s hard to tell how they will travel on the Good ground today.
Medrano has always travelled relatively well, and if he travels like he did last time out he could snatch the win.
Prince Gagarin has an each way shot.
It’s probably needless to pick any horse other than Solow to win this race when he’s won on his last 7 starts, and there’s no reason why he shouldn’t win his 8th here. Night Of Thunder is the only prospect in beating Solow, and although his 2000 Guineas win last year was impressive, when he faced Solow last time out he failed to dazzle. On the other hand, Arod could be up there with Solow and Night Of Thunder to earn a place.
Pity Cash will probably struggle with the further step up in trip, as will Princess Kodia and Case Key.
