Thunder God is a pretty solid group of musicians.  I was fortunate enough to see them open for Skeletonwitch a few weeks back and it was certainly a great performance. If I were you, I’d head and listen to the 2 songs that they have up. The recordings aren’t the best, but you get the idea.  They sound incredible live, that’s for sure. I’d say it’s somewhere in the realm of power death metal. It’s very upbeat, good feeling metal with some awesome solos. I was thoroughly impressed with them when I saw them, granted I was also high as a kite, but that means I was in the zone. Also, you may as well go follow their tumblr.

Top Cleveland Metal Bands on ReverbNation - 2013 Q1

Perhaps one of the hardest parts about being in a metal band is marketing the band itself. In the case of Thunder God, we love our music and know others with similar tastes feel the same way as soon as they are exposed to it. But isn't that just the problem? It is hard to connect with the people you know you will appeal to if you don't know who they are, where they live, and what dark corner of the internet in which they dwell. ReverbNation has been an invaluable tool in strengthening old connections and creating new ones. It has helped Thunder God stay connected with similar bands, communicate with venues, capitalize on opportunities, and most importantly manage our amazing fanbase. This board features a compilation of Cleveland metal bands on the top of the charts for artist social networking tool "ReverbNation" at the beginning of quarter one in 2013. Framus Dragon Top

Recently an old pal asked me some questions about re-covering a "once loved" Framus Dragon Top. Of course I was happy to give him some answers and I would be happy to lend a hand doing it (especially if that means getting to play test this one \m/). With three independent channels, each with it's own EQ, I might be "testing" for quite some time!

Endless Planets EP by SuperVoid

Mixed and mastered by Dave Hidek of Grammy Award winning Treelady Studios, the "Endless Planets EP" by SuperVoid dropped just last week. Featured here and available for purchase on bandcamp, SuperVoid's maiden release couldn't be more impressive.

With two tracks spanning almost 17 minutes the EP is a great listen and exemplifies the band's mastery of tone and groovy writing abilities. Although the length of "Arcane Groves" may lose the attention of an unseasoned listener, I find the track develops well and provides a great contrast of post-rock exploration and sludge heaviness.

"Wake of the Smoke Jumper" ramps up quickly to provide a style cohesive with that of the first track. This gives the EP a great sense of direction and flow as it transitions from a lyrical theme that seems largely environmental to one that seems more centered around a character. The gripping notion of unknown vastness is divulged with somber lyrics in both tracks.

A quality I truly appreciate about bands is the ability to write deliberately. Endless Planets demonstrates this concept well considering parts don't feel forced, riffs aren't rushed, and drums aren't overdone. Overall, the listening experience is a very good one for the cultered "alternative" listener. Those with an appreciation for post-rock, doom, or metal will certainly connect with this EP.

October

A few weeks back I traveled to Pittsburgh, PA to see SuperVoid. October was an exciting added-bonus to that goal. With sound and style akin to that of Baroness, October exhibited a mastery of both their instruments and their dynamic tone

Demonwulf

Hailing from New Castle, PA, Demonwülf is a local super group in its own right with resumes including local favorites such as War Between One, Shattered Soul, Black Casket, and Thunder God. Although their debut is November 17th, one can already surmise these thrash metallers will create a commanding presence in the regional scene.
