Bloopers vs. show
My favorite part about Wincest is how deeply it’s woven into the show. The very fabric of the story is held together by their bond. Every watcher is taken through the ups and downs of Sam and Dean’s relationship. We’re shown how dangerously codependent they are. Jealous of any relationship they have with other people. Actually being affronted that anyone suggest they break up. How desperately we hope they resolve every earthly, heavenly and demonic crisis. And know ultimately they would choose each other to settle down and be happy with. However much they hate it they also love Wincest.
This focus on portraying a real, desirable example of friendship is one of the things that’s made the Starsky & Hutch fandom so durable. While it lends itself to both gen and slash exploration, it also stands up to scrutiny on its own in a way that shallower depictions might not—and it provided a model for members of the fandom. “I kind of took that example when I was a teenager watching the show and made that my thing,” said Lisa. “I wanted to be that friend. I wanted to have that kind of friendship.” And she did: she still has friends she met in the ’70s. Flamingo, too, says the show influenced her close relationships: one friend she made through the fandom lived with her for 20 years.
In our June article, Jay Castello talks to the admins of the Starsky & Hutch Fiction Archive about their decades-long efforts to preserve fanworks—and fandom friendships.

Sam isn’t just Dean’s Abel. And he isn’t just Dean’s Colete. He’s Dean’s everything.
Sam has consistently been shown this season as the one who accepts Dean and loves Dean unconditionally: Dean: “So what are you gonna do, you gonna kill me?” Sam: “No.” Dean: “Why? You don’t know what I’ve done, I might have it coming.” Sam: “I don’t care. Because you are my brother and I’m here to take you home.” This directly parallels what Cain said about Colette: Cain: “My knights and I, we did horrible things, for centuries. Bringers of chaos and darkness.” Dean: “Then you met Colette.” Cain “She knew who I was… and what I was. She loved me unconditionally. She forgave me.” So I agree. Sam is Abel by the nature of the fact that he’s Dean’s brother. But he is so much more than just that to Dean. He is who Dean loves most. That is also canon: Dean: “But, Sammy… come on. I killed Benny to save you. I’m willing to let this bastard and all the sons of bitches that killed mom walk because of you. Don’t you dare think that there is anything, past or present, that I would put in front of you! It has never been like that, ever! I need you to see that. I’m begging you.” Sam is not just Abel and he’s not just Colette. Sam is Dean’s everything.
It’s always been you….

If you’re an American federal employee and got an email saying “it’s ok to quit your job.” Do not, for the love of everything, quit your job. This is purely a scare tactic to get rid of as many people as possible without legal consequences.
Obviously, Trump has realized firing everyone in the government will be harder than he thought because of robust legal protections so he’s trying to scare or trick people into leaving instead because he knows they can block and slow his fascist agenda. Don’t let that happen. If you’re in the civil service, your country needs you; stay in your job and protect the constitution. And if you’re not in civil service, do what you can to support the civil service, including calling your representatives and asking them to protect civil servants.
Important addition: the email was almost WORD FOR WORD the same email sent to Twitter employees after Musk took over. It does not consider Federal employee rights or regulations, parts of it make NO SENSE WHATSOEVER (you resign but will be kept on active payroll and simply won’t be given work or need to come in. For 8 months.).
8 months pay with the ability to get a new job is very tempting, especially for lower-paid workers. All that extra money could really cover some gaps and relieve financial pressures. It’s tempting. I get it.
ITS ALSO NOT LIKELY LEGAL AS WRITTEN AND YOUR AGREEMENT COULD ACTUALLY SCREW YOU. There’s a reason so many of the recent EOs and initial memorandums are getting halted or rewritten - no thought or research was given to what they can do given actual regulations and union contracts. Because many are coming from Musk via DOGE, and Musk has NEVER had to deal with unions, federal employee regulations, and strong opponents capable of fighting back HARD with decades of legal precedent at their back.
Reality seems to be hitting as an afterthought to all the shit spewing like a firehose from this administration. Don’t react to the first edition of ANYTHING. Given it a few days and see what actually can be done.
Right now, r/fednews is the biggest social media hub for federal employees anywhere; you can find resources, advice, news, memes, and encouragement there.
If you're not a federal employee, feel free to pop over anyway for information, and please send well-wishes! They really need it right now, as their jobs are so so so important but not very popular or prestigious, and now the wealthiest and most powerful people in the world are trying to take their livelihoods.
The architect of Project 2025, Russell Vought, is now Trump's director for the Office of Managenent and Budget -
ie, the main guy who created Project 2025 is now the topmost-level manager and coordinator of all federal agencies.
His vision for federal civil servants, in his own words:
"We want the bureaucrats to be traumatically affected. When they wake up in the morning, we want them to not want to go to work because they are increasingly viewed as the villains.
We want their funding to be shut down so that the EPA can't do all of the rules against our energy industry because they have no bandwidth financially to do so.
We want to put them in trauma."
Project 2025 specifically targets federal civil servants for a reason. They are the essential first and second lines of defense of the US democracy and the fascists know it.
Support our civil servants, support your rights.
This is so important.
Support civil servants, support your rights!
And if you’re in the civil service we’re all rooting for you. You are heroes. Even slowing him down buys valuable time to defeat the fascist agenda. Defend the constitution. We stand with you. Hold the line! Don’t resign!
Aa's and hellers throwing tantrums in 3...2...1...😈😂
CE's really carrying favour to Jared. It's about bloody time.
I really love that Jared didn't sign exclusively with them, so he can attend other cons in USA/Canada. And this means CE's losing out on profit. Jared doing King's shit! YAY!
ok so these new tariffs are likely going to be primarily affecting red states. i want y’all to ignore the urge to respond by saying the people in those red states deserve it because of the political representation we have. not because some of us are progressives but because this is an opportunity. if conservatives from these states start complaining about higher prices and financial strain, do not respond with “well you voted for this!” this is your opportunity to pull them to the center. say “wow that is really awful. i’m sure this isn’t what you wanted when you voted last year. you deserve representatives that will have your best interests at heart, you should let them know how upset you are! you deserve to be heard!”
because listen to me. republican politicians don’t give a shit about what progressives in red states have to say. they aren’t gonna change their voting trends for us. but if a bunch of small town conservatives start to get restless and angry with their politicians, if they lose support from their most important demographics, that has a shot at changing things. so swallow your pride and disgust and have a conversation with that republican truck driver instead of taking the pot shot that’ll get you 10 minutes of dopamine. do the hard work.
I'm in a red state. The last time I had effectual representation of my political beliefs was over 12 years ago. I will be having so many of these conversations.
hutch appreciation post his smile is so damn cute
The way David Soul is captured on film is another kind of beauty. Like that blonde blue eye combo was working overtime for those damn cameras. I miss his acting dearly! He had such a unique way of playing characters and somehow always managed to put so many small details of actions or dialogue to entail double meanings.
I just want what they had
Hello my good friend. What Bruce×Clarence academic papers are you talking about? I need them in my life
Sorry for the late reply anon!!
Here you are! Though I have to admit I haven't read them all yet. Some of these only tangentially mention Bruce's relationship with Clarence, and the last one is an essay, but I hope you'll still find them interesting <3
