Phew! It’s finished! Thank you to @embergeist and @mllebree for your help with some of the ASL. It’s been fun dusting off the cobwebs and relearning some sign language I’d forgotten over the years. I’m still playing around with the best ways to have Quasi “talk.” A lot of sign language involves motion which is tricky in static images. I did leave out some pronouns here and there like “I, me, her, etc” just to try to avoid Quasi looking too much like an octopus.

I have long said that in order for any comedy to truly succeed as a story, there has to be meat beneath the jokes. There has to be that moment when it is not funny any more.

This. This is that moment.

#honestly even though this is one of the best scripts there ever has been  #that is the greatest line  #it’s /groundbreaking/ in terms of how it frames vengeance quests; temptation beats; inigo as a comedic figure throughout the movie  #you know because this is a happy book (film) that inigo will get his revenge  #but will he get JUSTICE  #will he get ABSOLUTION  #will he get CATHARSIS  #those are the things we don’t know  #and that line sells it more than any of the previous scene (x)

Okay but true facts, this can make a profound impact. When I was younger, I had a friend who is trans and my mom once asked what his birth name was, and I asked, “Why does it matter?” She paused and answered something to the effect of, “You’re right, it doesn’t.”
