Lowkey feel kinda sorry for the cast, last few years they’ve been sent out to be the face of the show, to promote crumbs and buffets of nothing on talk shows,and face the ‘it’s not a comedy’ industry rage about awards, in questions on the red carpet/interviews. Whilst the network/ show itself doesn’t explain/defend the show over this stuff.
Yet PR from the show / connected to it, appeared to take the time to be loud denouncing Sydcarmy shippers, whilst saying nothing about the unhinged racist hate directed to Sydney (and Marcus on a lesser level) from a loud contingent of dude bro/ Claire stan fans. Priorities all wrong
I get the sense the lack of trailer, and nearly zero promo is due to one or more things:
1- the show had near universal acclaim for season 1 & 2. Then I feel like it threw them off when there was the mixed public/critical reaction to seasons 3 (then later 4). Plus this coupled with the industry awards category backlash.
So their PR response was to retreat and further limit promo, not many interviews/ premiere interviews (cast or crew) related to the show, where they may get asked about the above by unapproved interviewers. Or now,trailers that will be scrutinized and create conversation, potentially critical.
2- they just can’t be bothered, they random and chaotic as hell, may still even be editing the actual season!
So yah. Let me also say sorry to those anticipating it but given the effort promoting the final season, I think the film being floated, will be released on the 5th of NEVER-UARY.
At this point I’ll be surprised and grateful if a season that doesn’t treat Sydney like the show’s stoic, suffering personal life free workhorse, is released on time ,on June 25 lol.
