Pride..some peoples are just messed up.
I get that people have pride in things. Pride in where they are from, or came from. Their favorite sports team, etc. It’s when they go overboard on that pride, and in what that pride is for, that I do not get.
I come from a small town in Ohio, it’s not a dream town. It’s not one of those dreamy, “Oh I want to move there towns”. Actually, most people can’t wait to leave it. And once they do they do not want to return. It’s a dying town. Not much there. But there are a few people who seem to think it’s the bomb! They even take pride in the lowest of low parts of the town.
Like the south side. Every town and city has a south side. And every south side is bad. And this little towns south side is no different. It’s the cockroach infested, welfare infested, poor part of town. The houses look like they should have been torn down years ago. There is trash in the streets. Hardly anyone wants to live there. But there are a few who takes great pride in it. And with great pride brags about being from the south sides, and acts as though it’s something to be proud of. Not only do they act like it’s something to be proud of the act like the are some thugs because they lived there. SMALL TOWN! Our south side is five blocks down one street! The toughest thing these kids ever did was maybe fight on a corner, It’s not like they were fighting for their lives on the east side Cleveland? Or Chicago? But they try to act like it. And these aren’t kids acting like this. This is 40 year old men trying to act like they are bad asses. They no longer live on the south side, they upgraded some. Some are living the life with some women supporting their asses, some are now living on the south side in another, slightly better small town. But they still walk around thinking they are thugs from the south side.
Then there’s the dude who just can’t move past his elementary school. Which happens to be in the same small town, on the south side, and just happens to be called South Street. Lord help us all. When I say he can’t move past it. I mean he will go out of his way to drive past the school, just to see it. That’s not normal. I mean you are 40 years old it’s time to move on. He started a group on FB for those who went there, and he will post on the group whenever he passes the school, or goes to “visit” the school, and does this once or twice a day. A DAY! It is a building! A BUILDING! That’s normal. I don’t know that just doesn’t seem right. What has happened in someone’s life that someone has to hold on to something so tight, like a building. I get the memories. But the building?
Ugh, I’m just venting.
