They might have had different upbringings but in the end, what brought the two mates together and made them the closest were their similar desires to do good. Tiberius was involved with the Wizengamot and Benjy was working with the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, each in their own way trying to make a change. Tiberius was one of a very few people that Benjy had confided in about the Travers incident. He had wanted to shield his best friend from the information, part of him afraid that Tib’s position would force him to turn his Benjy in. But his downward spiral into alcoholism had made it impossible for Benjy to keep the traumatic event from his friend. Tiberius had helped Benjy out of his hole of guilt and self-blame and he would always be grateful for it.
Benjy started to laugh, nudging the other man playfully. “You’re just in it for the leftovers. No consideration for romance,” Benjy teased. “It’s just to look over some artifacts uncovered in Nepal, log them into the Ministry’s accounts, blah blah…” he shrugged. Entering the restaurant, it was fairly busy for the lunch hour, so they took a table and waited. Benjy looked over at his friend and cleared his throat. “Actually, um, speaking of romantic pursuits…” He moved a hand to shake a curl from his face awkwardly. “I’ve been meaning to talk to you about something.”
Benjy was one of the best people Tiberius knew, he was kind and had a good heart, and even with the non intentional killing of Travers, Tiberius never doubted that for a second in his life. He had been worried when he saw Benjy in self despair, but he understood that in the situation that Benjy was in, there was no good or bad, just the best way to react. Tiberius knew if it weren’t for Benjy’s reflexes that his best mate would be dead, and Tiberius could never think a world without Benjy was a good one.
“You know what they say, to get to a man’s heart you go through his stomach” he laughed, even if Benjy was partly right, Tiberius wanted nothing more than happiness for the Curse Breaker. “So a boring trip with great food, sounds better than elderly complaints.” he laughed as he grabbed the menu, even if he knew what he was ordering. Intrigued he put the menu down and looked at his mate, “You do? Who’s the lucky person?” he asked intrigued.
